Nomad Jukebox3 doesn't achieve connectivity with computer

I am having problems connecting my Nomad Jukebox 3 (NJB3) player to my computer. The computer cannot achieve connectivity with the NJB3. The ?Found New Hardware? bubble Pops up followed by the ?Found New Hardware Wizard? It asks me to insert the CD-ROM with the driver software. unfortunately, my installation CD is broken. However I did download the following driver ?NOMAD Jukebox 3 1.40.06p? from the DRIVERSkit website (http://www.driverskit.com/freedownload/MP3/Creative/NOMAD_Jukebox_3_1_40_06p/18240.html) But still, even when I follow the directions for using this driver, the driver software indicates that by NJB3 is Not connected, when in fact it is. I tried using a different USB cable as well as tried connecting on another computer and I get the same problem. Might you know what is wrong with my NJB3. Is it in need of repair and if so, Where/How do I repair it. Any and all help would be greatly appreicated

    Thank you Aeroz!
I'm back in business again. It sure is nice to have my NJB3 back again. I downloaded the following driver and applications from the creative website:
    Driver: JBDrvWHQL_1_20_04c.exe dtd 12 Jun 03

    Applications:
    Explorer: NMEX_PCApp_3_01_10.exe
    Organizer: CMS_PCAPP_LB_3_30_21.exe

When I went into Device Manager it showed a yellow question mark next to my NJB3. I double clicked on the question mark and it indicated that I did not have the drivers installed. I copied the Driver I downloaded from the Creative website onto a CD (being that the wizard asks for a CD-ROM). In Device manager it gives you options on whether or not you want to install the drivers. I clicked on the option to install the drivers. It immediately starts up the "New Hardware Wizard". When I put the CD-ROM in and clicked next it tried looking for the driver. It didn't work the first time out. The 2nd time out I loaded the applications. When I loaded Explorer, for the first time a hand-shake occurred between the computer and my NJB3. That hadn't happened in a long time. I saw that as a good sign. I restarted the computer and launched Creative Explorer from my desktop. It indicated that My NJB3 was not connected. So I went back into device manager, and through Device Manager tried loading the driver again. This time it worked. I really like the Explorer application, it's far better than what the installtion CD provided and I'm back to enjoying my NJB3.

Once again thank you for your support, it's greatly appreciated.

You should plug it in and see if it is detected under the device manager. Click the start button, then right-click on My Computer, and select Manage. If not detected, something is likely wrong with the device. However, you should still install the software directly from the Creative website. You need to install the following: Creative Organizer Creative Explorer If everything fails, you should take it to a technician to have it repaired. You can scroll down on this page to a box where it says Repair Service. Just put in your zip code to find repair services nearest you.

Hi J...welllll....I dunno what kinda internal damage your player may have suffered, but let's try a couple of exercises and see if we achieve success. 1) Have you tried resetting your player? To reset your player, insert the end of a paperclip into the Reset Hole. Under normal circumstances, resetting your player will not cause any data/file loss. 2) Click on the URL below, and download the latest appropriate software for your OS, also download the latest firmware for your player. My intention here, is to attempt to sync your player with your computer, which will allow you to control your player via your pc, and ultimately enable you to transfer your files from player to pc. However, success using this theory is relying on a simple loss of your Firmware/BIOS information contained in the EPROM from the jolt. http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?MainCategory=213&nRegionFK=&nCountryFK=&nLanguageFK=&sOSName=Windows+XP®ion=1&Product_Name=NOMAD+Jukebox+3&Product_ID=296&modelnumber=&driverlang=1033&OS=10&drivertype=0&x=33&y=12 Please update your post with specifics on any failures or progress....meanwhile...I'll toss your dilema around in my head until I learn of your status......good luck my friend

When it the zen is turned on it says firmware

Had the same problem and nearly went nuts trying to fix it. Here's what I did:

1. Uninstall all creative driver & creative software.
2. Uninstalled Windows Media Player 11 (Rolled back to WMP 10) and restarted PC.
3. Uninstalled Windows Media Player 11 Runtime and restarted PC.
4. Downloaded and Installed the latest free version of Winamp from http://www.winamp.com
5. Connected my A/C Power Cord to my Nomad Jukebox then connected my Nomad Jukebox via USB cable to the Computer.

The computer should then recognize the Nomad Jukebox as "Found New Hardware" then "MTP Device" and lastly "Your new hardware is installed and ready to use.

6. If you haven't already, go to the creative website and download the Creative Zen Xtra PlaysForSure Firmware 2.10.03 and save it to your computer.
7. Run the Firmware (Make sure Nomad Jukebox is connected) and at this point the Computer should recognize the Nomad Jukebox and begin the upgrade.

After your upgrade is complete, You can go ahead and re-download Windows Media Player 11 and it will recognize the Nomad Jukebox. Not sure what version of windows you have, but I have two computers, one with windows xp and the other has windows 7 and Im able to transfer music perfectly fine with Windows Media Player and RealPlayer on both computers. I hope this works for you. Good Luck!

Receiving Message - Not connected when trying to access player

hi lardray

I just passed here, and can see that maybe there are the same problem from another website, and there it is writing :

1.Connection problem with the computer:
See if your connection to the computer work properly, try to chance the USB entrance from your computer
OR
See if you had a fail installation of the driver to your product and reinstall the driver from here if it is this device :Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 1.30.03:
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOUND-CARD/CREATIVE/Creative-Nomad-Jukebox-Zen-Xtra-13003.shtml

2. Problem with playing songs directly form the Mp3 player:
Try to reformat the mp3 player. Just go to "my computer" and highlight the Mp3 player and right click and choose format. (Before doing that try to copy all the stuff you have on the Mp3 player to your computer and then you can copy it back again when you have reformat the Mp3 player.)
OR
Close you Mp3 player, take the batteries out and wait for 15 min and reopen it.(chance the batteries if possible or be sure they are charged)

Or try to contact the support team here :
http://support.creative.com/kb/ShowArticle.aspx?url=http://203.211.142.197:80/srvs/cgi-bin/webcgi.exe/,/%3fst=10,e=0000000000449671082,k=1351,sxi=2,t=prod_not_listed

AND

Hi again
1. It could bee your USB connection on the computer: try a different one
2. It could bee your setup file that it is corrupted: download another one
3.If you not see the device in your computer it could bee that you have too many USB devices connected: try too disconnect some of your USB devices and then try to install the software.

Try these and then return if it is not working still
Have a nice weekend :O)

Creative Nomad Jukebox zen xtra says Firmware problem

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

It would appear that the fix requires a Windows machine. Solution then would be two fold:
  • download the firmware update/fix even meant for Windows;
  • install and run Windows inside your Mac.
The last could be achieved by:
Of course the easiest is to use a Windows based computer of a friend.

Your Creative Zen Nomad Xtra mp3 player uses a memory system similar to a flash/thumb drive much like the hard disk of any computer. Just as a computer on certain instances freezes/hangs, the same would happen to your MP3. Like again the computer, the OS would need to be re-installed. In your MP3 the OS is the firmware which has to be reloaded/updated.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Loss of music library

Uninstall everything from your PC, reboot, reinstall driver and the Explorer (I do not use MediaSource, only the Explorer).

If it didn't work out follow these steps:

1. Uninstall Creative Media Source and all related software.
2. Install the driver. In the installation CD the driver is usually in \Drivers\English
3. Turn on the Nomad an connect it to the PC.
4. Install MediaSource(the program requires that you have the nomad connected while installing)
5. Install MediaSource plugin
6. Try transferring files.

If you?re still running into problem know that there are other programs capable of handling MediaSource?s functions, such as - Portable Audio Devices Power Toy , NomadSync, Real player, and there?s also a Zen plugin for the Winamp.

Good luck!
