If I receive a smilebox containing videos on my iphone 5, I can play the entire smilebox, including music, but when I get to the videos, they don't play. Only a picture of the beginning of each video appears, but the videos themselves won't play. I have the smilebox app on my phone.

Is it possible to hook up my iPhone 5 to play music through this receiver (specifically Pandora)?

If you get a mini-headphone to rca cable then you should be able to hook the phone's headphone output to an rca input on the receiver and play through there.

When I plug my iPhone into the USB it doesn't

ANSWER: The headphone jack will not charge your iPod. Only the USB will charge your iPod. However, the headphone jack will play music, but the USB will not play music from your iPod.
REASON: The headphone jack does not provide any power to charge your iPod. It isnly has enough power to recieve a music signal.
REASON WHY YOU CANNOT PLAY IPOD THROUGH THE USB: The USB is only intended to be used with a flash drive or external hard drive with a folder structure containing either .mp3 or .wma files. The way the USB works on the system is that it reads all the files and folders on the entire device and will say "reading" until it reads all the files and folders. This should only take a few seconds but if there is tons of files it may take longer. Main problem: An iPod contains much more than just music files and folders - it contains an entire operating system. Worse, the operating system which the iPod uses is protected, keeping other devices except for iTunes from reading the music files.
TO PLAY MUSIC FROM USB (NOT IPOD): You will need to use a flash drive or external hard drive with your USB. This device can only contain music, and the music must be organized into folders. Your iPod will not work. However, you can use Auxiliary input using a cable which both ends are 1/4" headphone jacks, one end going to the iPod and other plugged into your stereo.
SOLUTION: To charge your iPod, you need to plug it into USB. However, to play music, you need to plug your iPod into the headphone jack.
