Could be bad cd's ,but id say your recorder is going bad. you can try cd rw disks they work better in this case. then use a pc to copy to regular cd then reuse the cd rw disk again.

Everytime I try to burn a cd I get an error saying there is an error in the writing process.

Try using another Software to Burn the Cd. Other wise try changing the CD type.

Cd burning

Usually when you get a 4300 error when you are writing to a disk it means one of two things.

1. The communication from the motherboard to the cd-rom is bad. Meaning a bad or loose cable connected to the cd-rom drive.

or

2. You have another cd-rom drive installed or another IDE device installed in your PC and they are both set up on Master or Slave and the operating system is having an issue sending the data to the right device.

If neither of these are YOUR issue, then I would take the CD-ROM drive out and check it on a friends/family member's pc to make sure it's not the drive itself.

I get unknown error code 4260 when trying to burn cd

This is a disk error issue make sure if on windows you have the drivers for your CD drive(start>right click computer>click device manager) and also try an different make of blank disk.

TDK maxel and sony disks are notoriously bad on burning..

verbatin and imation disks burn without this error, stick to CD-R or CD+R disks the re-writables are notrious for not writing properly

this may solve your problem hope it helps

Power Callibration Error

This error has nothing to do with your DVD drive hardware, so you can be sure your Laptop is ok. This is software error with Nero. Try and reinstall Nero or just try and burn DVDs at lower speed.

When I try to play a C.D. on my system it says frmtread error

That error is (Format Read Error). Usually a MP3 problem when the disc was burned too fast, or corrupted during burn. Some writing programs dont put an initial track on the CD designating it an audio disc. I have seen Nero have many Problems with this. FYI
Try burning 1x speed on the next disc, yes slow, just to see if it works. If so then gradually increase the burnning speed up again.

CD writing speed

it's most likely NOT the CD..check the settings in your burner applications, where those sort of things are decided.
