Usually this means that the memory is defective or has been removed or popped loose in its sockets. Try to reseat the memory DIMMs or replace them.

SOURCE: i am trying to search & install the audio driver

do not look at the free scan for drivers ..your driver is a little down the page just download and run ...ya might also keep it so you never have to do this again ...( keep it in a different partition than C ...so if you ever format C partition ..you will still have the driver )
Good luck ...and rate me please :P !
have a great day !

SOURCE: lenovo thinkpad R51e ,when i power on the laptop it show error271

This error message is generated when the BIOS Date and Time is incorrect. Go into the BIOS configuration to change the Date and Time. When you reboot and still get the same error message then the BIOS battery is flat and needs to be replaced and the Date and Time setting needs to be change to the current Date and Time after replacing the battery.
If you cannot get into the BIOS configuration (press F1 on bootup) or you get a lock icon in the top LH corner of the screen, this is a Power on Password symbol, enter the passsword to bootup the laptop and then press F1 to get into the BIOS configuration.

My Lenovo T61 is not troubleshooting. It was infected by an virus, How can I restart the computer? Please help

Hi,

ThinkPad computers have what we call the service partition, which can set the computer back to its factory stated even without the recovery disc. The service partition can be accessed by pressing the Access ThinkPad or Access IBM button during start up.

Prior to performing a software recovery, Lenovo recommends returning your system to it's original factory configuration by removing all hardware that has been added to your system.
When the system first starts, the following message will be displayed on a blank screen:

To start the Product Recovery program, press F11

This message will stay on the screen for approximately 2 seconds, and it will be there every time the machine is started from a powered off state. If the F11 key is pressed while the message is displayed, then the system will enter the Service partition.

Select Full Recovery to get rid of the viruses. Wait for it to complete and your computer will be back to when it was fresh as new.

Thank you for visiting FixYa! a 4 thumbs up if this helped will be greatly appreciated.

Unit will not start only gives 3 Beeps

Seems like it could be a memory problem, replacing the RAM or checking to the if it seated correctly would be the best thing to do.
If you have an AMIBIOS.

  • Three beeps means there has been a base memory read/write test error. Replacing the RAM usually solves this AMI beep code.
If you have AwardBIOS.
  • Any other beep code pattern you hear means that there has been some kind of memory problem. Replacing your RAM is the most you'll need to do to fix this problem.
Try looking at this for some new and faster RAM ddr-333mhz-4-ibm-lenovo-thinkpad-t42-pentium/q/sellerid/18914987/loc/101/219856812.html">http://www.buy.com/prod/1gb-memory-upgrade-pc2700-ddr-333mhz-4-ibm-lenovo-thinkpad-t42-pentium/q/sellerid/18914987/loc/101/219856812.html

Beeps usually mean there is a problem with your system hardware. 4 beeps usually mean a memory failure, but beep codes vary. Google "beep codes" to get a list of meanings. Lenovo Support has several pages for this. Try HERE

My ibm thinkpad r-52 is locked with bios password.how can i remove that .i dont know the password.plz help me [email protected]

Please note that Thinkpad stores the password in a special security chip which is accessed during boot time.

The only option I know to reset BIOS password in a Thinkpad is to disassemble the system and then use the steps mentioned in the following link

IBM thinkpad T42 won't boot. It beeps with the following x-x-x-x x-x-x-x x-x-x-x (4 repetitions 3 sets)

The most commons problems are memory and your system board.

Remove memory modules and insert one at a time (if multiple) or just reseat (remove and reinsert) if one module.

If not memory, your system board is faulty.

Here's some assistance from the Lenovo site:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-50233

Hope this helps.
