Question about Hitachi 60FX20B 60" Rear Projection Television
LIGHTNING STRUCK OUTSIDE CLOSE TO MY HOME AND TV QUIT WORKING, WHEN I TURN THE POWER ON THE RED LIGHT BLINKS AND TV CHIRPS A FEW TIMES AND SHUTS OFF. I HAD REPAIR SERVICE COME TO GIVE ESTIMATE FOR INSURANCE AND HE SAID THE AMPLIFIER WAS OUT. CAN I REPLACE THE AMPLIFIER MYSELF, IF SO WHAT WOULD THE PART COST. (ALSO THE SERVICE MAN BYPASSED THE BAD PART AND SHOWED ME THAT THE TV STILL WORKED, THE PICTURE CAME ON BUT NO SOUND.) IS THIS POSSIBLE?
Yes they can run with parts out of the tv thats how he made the tv come on now that amp was shorted out (bad) and it was pulling to many amps a hevey load in the protection and thats why your tv did not come on. looks like you got your work cut out for you just get a new one and soder it up the part wil cost around $12.00 to $15.00 bucks good luck...and allso I dout he bypassed anything just taking the amp out bypassed it just soder a new one in its place and you be good to go....let me know how you made out...

Excellent visual acuity technique!! I try to teach that procedure.
IC F6629B is probably shorted and at least one other part will
be open, possibly a zener diode,a fuse,a resistor or combo.
The service diagram would help.Be sure to use OEM first quality
parts.Let me know if you need more help.
