Ribbon how to replace the ribbon

Ribbon does not advance

1. Lift the ribbon cartridge out of the typewriter.
2. Inspect the ribbon for damage.
3. If the ribbon is silver, it is at the end of the spool and must be replaced.
4. Turn the colored knob on the left side of the ribbon cartridge counter-clockwise to advance the ribbon a small amount. Replace the ribbon if it will not advance or the knob will not turn.
5. Reinstall the ribbon.
6. Try typing a few characters. If the ribbon still does not advance, the machine will need service.

Reinstall the Ribbon Cartridge. If the Ribbon Cartridge is defective, replace it. If "false" ribbon jam errors occur (Ribbon Jam Error occurs but the ribbon moves freely), replace the RF Unit.

An improperly adjusted Card Guide Assy will impair the ribbon's feed performance. Perform the Card Guide
Mount Adjustment.

A deformed Ribbon Mask can cause the ribbon to jam. Check and, if damaged, replace the Ribbon Mask.

An incorrect platen gap can cause the ribbon to jam.
NOTE: The following adjustments affect the platen gap: the Card Guide Mount Position Adjustment, the
APTC Thickness Detection Adjustment, and the APTC Detection Adjustment.

If no Paper Feed from either paper path

Action:
1.Replace the LF Motor.
2.Replace the ROM Board.

Intermittent Paper Feed from either paper paths

Action:
1.Replace the LF Motor.
2.Replace the ROM Board

Ribbon electrical connectors? Usually there is a lock right where the ribbon goes in. Lift the lock all around, and the ribbon is free. Reset the lock when the ribbon is replaced, straight and true.

The print ribbon is not moving properly.
1. Open the printer and remove the ribbon cartridge.
2. Reposition, repair, or replace the ribbon and advance the repaired area one full turn.
3. Replace the ribbon cartridge and close the printer.

Try removing the ribbon, advancing it a foot or so by hand. Install it, mark the feed wheel type and see if it is turning.

i got a new ribbon and it keeps saying ribbon empty reset or replace. i unplugged it for 30 seconds didnt do any good how can i fix this? it is a brand new ribbon

press down the ribbon rewind lever on the left side of keyboard until all of ribbon is wound around left spool. Remove used ribbon spool and replace with new one. Guide the end of the new ribbon through the guides to the right take up spool - looks like a bow tie. Slip the metal end of ribbon in slot and you're ready to type.

Out of print ribbon.
Possible Cause 1 : The print ribbon Cartridge is empty.

Solution 1 : Reload the print cartridge. Change the cleaning sleeve and replace the cartridge in the printer. Run a cleaning card as soon as printing is completed.

Possible Cause 2 : The printer ribbon is not loaded correctly.
Soultion 2 :Load the printer ribbon correctly and then close the cover.

Possible Cause 3 : This ribbon has been completely used.
Solution 3 : Use a new roll of ribbon.

Tips for Success
* When this message appears, replace the old ribbon with the new ribbon of the same type. The printer has already prepared the card data for this ribbon type. You can change the colors of monochrome ribbon (such as from dark blue to gold).

* If you must change the type of ribbon (such as (YMCKT to KT) when this message appears, install the new ribbon, cancel any cards waiting to print, and change the ribbon type settings. Finally, return to the card creation program to send the card data to print.

* If the ribbon was repaired, the wrong take-up spool was used. Repair the ribbon again, using the correct take-up spool.

If you cannot fix the problem contact your service provider for assistance.

Lift top cover up.
Move the carrier to center of machine.
On the right hand side of the carrier there is a red lever. slide it to the left.
( it will lift ribbon arm's up & move the ribbon drive mecanisem out of the way.)
you now can lift the ribbon cassett out of the machine,
put the new ribbon in the machine.
there is a wire with a white plastic roller around it on the left side of carrier. make sure the ribbon goes on the out side of the that wire.
put the ribbon throuugh the lift arms
turn the knob on ribbon till the colored led is in to the ribbon cassett + a few turns of the black ribbon is around the spool.
slip the red lever to the right.
close cover & try typing

You may have a wrong ribbon, sometime the small parts where the ribbon turn gear goes into does not match up correctly. Can you turn the ribbon manually by hand, if the ribbon does not turn it will not type....
