Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-T1 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Camera is completely dead & wont turn on...

Have a sony cybershot DSC-T1 that has no power whatsoever. I've tried new batteries, along with other suggestions posted on here, paper sham, etc. When I put it on the charger the light doesn't even show that it is charging. Since Sony's flat repair policy is 180 bucks Im hoping to get suggestions on something I could try myself... Thanks!

Yeah. The thing is that a friend has the exact same camera and it charges hers just fine. When I plug mine in the charging light doesn't come on. I've even tried to switch her battery into mine ,etc.

Hello I have the exact same problem as cfcgirl and would like any suggestions. And the funny thing about all this is I paid for the extended warranty (three years) but I forgot to register it and it's only valid if you register it. I have gone crazy looking for my receipt throughout the entire house but no luck, does anyone have their original receipt that they can scan and send to me ? I'd really appreciate it ! my e-mail is [email protected]

After three years with this camera and no other problems, I plugged it in to charge, the charge light wouldn't come on, and now I can't turn it on anymore either. It would be helpful to at least know what is wrong before I decide whether to repair or replace. I expected a longer lifespan from this camera!

I just had the CCD fault fixed by sony, got the camera back, worked for a day and then started to behave like this. Completly dead, batt light wont come on, spare battery the same :( Any ideas or has it just had it?? it is 4 years old.....

This is crazy... my Sony Cyber-Shot camera went dead yesterday for no apparent reason. It didn't fall or get damaged in any way, and the battery had just been charged. I had just taken a photo with it, then, when I tried to take another shot, it was dead as a doornail. It's a couple of years old, but I hardly ever used it, and it cost over $500. And now, searching the internet for suggestions on how to fix it, I find thousands of posts on numerous websites from people with the same problem. Their Sony camera "died" suddenly and for no reason, and there doesn't seem to be anything anyone can do about it. I have to say I'm very disappointed in Sony. I could have bought a much cheaper camera, but I bought this Sony camera because I thought it would be more reliable and would last a lot longer than it has.

My sony cybershot wont turn on!!

The symptoms sound like a failing battery. The camera is shutting down due to insufficient power during startup checks. How old is your battery? Rechargeables really aren't meant to last more than a year or two.

Now I realize that Sony batteries are outrageously expensive. But thankfully there are generic alternatives such as:
