Question about GE Advantium 120 Convection/Microwave Oven

Arcing sparking to carousel wheel. have 8 year old GE advantium 120 microwave oven. Was working just fine with a burnt out lightbulb but when I replaced the over head lightbulb it started to arc to the carousel wheel. I took out the light bulb and put everything back the way it was but it still arcs. If I take out the carousel wheel it works OK without any arcing. Any ideas? Is this a bad magnetron? Could I have possibly caused this by changing a lightbulb?

I think the problem is just coincidental to the lamp replacement.

i would say there is grease or food debris on the turntable support or turntable motor coupler.

probably but generally at that age , a replacement unit will be cheaper than the repair and parts cost

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do but to buy a new microwave oven Once it arcs it causes burns on and in the parts and most times cleaning does nothing

My advantium 220 just stopped working. There is no power.No lights display is blank. It is about 9 years old

check power. if good then check for fuses inside unit

Light, fan and timer work but microwave does not

Microwaves are pretty much a non repair item. It will cost you more to fix than it would to replace.

I need to replace the light bulb under my advantium 120 but my wife threw the lighbulb away I need to find out what size lightbulb I would need

I would think that you can find that info either in the owners manual or right in the area where the light resides. Usually there is a sticker there with the info you need. Best wishes!

Arcing

My Advantium was arching at the turntable. Replaced the turntable roller assembely (that hold the metal or glass plate) and the arching went away.

New problems after installing light bulb.

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for maybe an hour.

Then let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

I would think you have a problem with a door switch or door switch mount.
