I have the Newpoint Model 209180 UPS. All was working good and I went away for a 2 week vacation. I came home and it appeared there had been a power failure because it was low and there was a red light on. I thought nothing of it and don't even remember which light was red. However, I pressed the power ON/OFF button to turn it back on and everything went dead. The UPS will not turn on . I also pressed the circuit protection button on the end and nothing happens. It seems to neither charge, back up, turn on or off , and will not allow any power through from grid power to any ov the outlets on either side, surge protected or back up side outlets. Is there a cost effective fix , or is it now scrap ?
Thanks jakeswoody, I tried that several times, I even unplugged the unit for 24 hrs and plugged it back in. Still no through power from the wall and no response from the ON/OFF button and I have held it down for as long as 60 seconds or more. Still everything dead and unresponsive. Are you getting any warning lights? Your post seems to state that this unit is not very old? If still under warranty contact APC, they have fantastic customer service.
Yes. Otherwise it will not release power to the outlets.
I looked for the specific manual for your surge protector, but I was only able to find one for another Newpoint model (RX50TA). These are all pretty much the same from one brand or model to the next so the information should be sufficient to backup my assertion here. You will find a line on page 2 that states power will not be supplied to the outlets when the power to the surge protector is off. Surge protectors automatically turn off (or trip) to protect your equipment.
This means that the power is not a constant, stable 120 V. There is something going on with your power infrastructure that is causing the voltage to fluctuate enough to set off the AVR trim.
This can be caused my many different problems, my best guess as the pc was on while away is that you may have a virus. If you have anti virus do a complete scan with updated virus definitions. Also check that your hard disk is not full. If you need detailed instructions or these suggestions did not clear the problem please post back.
Please rate this solution if it has helped you.
Thanks, Gary
This is not good. Was your tv unplugged or just power button off when you left for vacation. PlasmaTvs are highly susceptible to damage from power surges caused by lighting. Leave unplugged for at least five minutes then plug back in and see if this helps.

Still everything dead and unresponsive.
