Looking for Sony RDR HX710 firmware upgrade, hopefully to fix following problem: I know this is getting a bit old now, but I still use it a lot. After editing programs recorded on HD (such as, deleting immediately before and after the desired recording) and after replaying perfectly on the HD, the same edit points are out by a second or two when copying from HD to DVD using the onboard DVD recorder.

You may try this disc creator, it can help you burn photos,
songs, video and ISO files to DVD/CD. My friends recommend it to me, it's easy
to use and works pretty well for me http://www.avs4you.com/AVS-Disc-Creator.aspx?sct=aff&ct=regnow&cid=94464 Hope it helps. Contact me if you have any other question.
Please download each file in the Computer to a folder. After that open the folder where the file was downloaded and double click to begin the installation. Then, please follow the onscreen instructions to complete the intallation process. Make sure that you restart the Computer after each installation. Installing all the above Driver/Utility in the correct order should fix the issue with the Volume/Brightness Function Keys.
this is a guess. there is a firmware update for the sony. has your one got the update? see it here https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/home-video-dvd-players-recorders/rdr-hxd870/downloads/Z0005568 *** please be aware that you need to be good with creating the cd for the upgrade and it could if done badly, render your device useless. so only do it if it needs it. ** I am not saying it will fix the issue but the reason for the update seems IMPORTANT! and sounds like a possible reason.
Check whether the discs you are using are compatible with the machine. I've just had the same problem using 8x DVD+R DL (Double Layer) discs, and after checking the users manual found that the machine only supports 2.4x DVD+R DL. I am now trying to find out if there is some sort of firmware upgrade available.
You may try a different style DVD disc. Are you using (+), (-), or (RW) the DVD makes a difference.

Here is the manual for your product. Check pages 9 and 10. These pages tell you the type of DVD disc to use, and what speed they can be used.
Let me know what happens.
Good Luck,
Tim
