I am trying to program a Charter Cable remote to this DVD home theater. I have tried al the codes given in the booklet and none work. I think it is pretty chicken that Sony will not give me the three digit code after I bought their system! I do not want three remotes to keep up with.

;lakjsd;kfjasdifoa!!! This same problem is driving me crazy. Calling Charter customer service was as much help as asking my grandma. Great news though, Indian John Smith CS rep found two ways to solve the problem:

  1. UPGRADE!! -- yeah, I'll hop right on that.
  2. Universal Remote -- those are always fun.
Thanks customer service. You're always so much help.

How do i set up my dynex tv without a remote

You can't set it up without a remote control. If you wish to buy its original remote control, contact the authorized service centre, or authorized dealer to your device brand. They can either give you a genuine remote control to your device, or can direct you, from where can you purchase a suitable one.
To select a proper universal remote control, you should know about the number of digits to its set-up codes. There are 3 digit, 4 digit, 5 digit, 2 digit and even single digit codes, to some brand devices. After confirming this, check the sites linked here. Both the sites have set-up code list and set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Check which brand remote control has set-up code/s to your device brand, and buy that one according to availability.
Brand name of the remote control isn't a matter, but it should have set-up codes in its code list, to the device brand you have.
Please note: Every new universal remote control will have set-up code list, and set-up procedure along with its pack. Never accept a remote control, that hasn't both of this. For more details about the set-up codes, visit the site http://electrohelponline.blogspot.com/ Check this site too. http://remotesearch.blogspot.com/ Universal remote controls are available at most of the electronic spare part selling shops.
Type in the "brand name" of your device, in the search box [at the top right] of the display window to get gathered all the related posts to this brand devices. It will make surf easy.

I need power and volume control codes only for my SONY DAV-BC150 home theater unit so I can program them into my cable remote.

I don't know what cable company you have or what equipment it is but you can try 220, or 689. Those are some codes for both cox, and comcast remotes.

Sony DVD Home Theater System remote control code

I have the same system and one of my dogs got to the remote. I have a philips PMDVR8/PDVR8 universal remote. I was able to get the dav-hdx265 to turn on/off and do volume up and down by using code 0200. I have not been able to get the DVD functionality to work yet, but I will post if I do.

Is it multiregional

Sony are probably the most protective manufacturer of this kind of information. All manufacturers carrying a DVD logo are obliged to say "no" but will normally intentionally leak this to boost sales, particularly in non-US areas.

But try this:

1. In order for this hack to work, you will have to send an infra-red code to your player with a OneForAll remote such as the OneForAll 6 (or URC7560) or OneForAll 4 (or URC7740) or OneForAll 4 Digital, or One For All 5 Digital (or URC 7555) with the following instructions:
  • Press the DVD button
  • Hold down the Magic button until the unit performs a double LED flash
  • Configure your remote using the setup code 0 5 3 3
2. On your DVD recorder, using the official Sony remote, select the System-Menu option 3. On your DVD recorder, using the official Sony remote, select the Setup option 4.
