However, you can look among the manuals on the Rival site and even if you don't spy one for your model, there may be one for a similar model there. Instruction Manuals ' Rival (rivalproducts.com) Perhaps their customer service might help find a similar one, as well.

if you can open it up the thing that holds the tab down could have been used up already.

toasters are not repairable. Personally I would live with it or replace it.

Did you try Wal-Mart... or a good hardware store? They were selling this kind of toaster just a few years ago because it was some kind of anniversary. I have a new one and one that's over 30 years old (and that's pretty good for a small appliance!)
