Would like to host a game thru my motorola modem/router

I used to be able to host my racing game NASCAR 2003 no problem.Started having general internet problems with the Motorola Surfboard,so my ISP give me a Motorola SBG940 & it solved my internet problems HOWEVER now nobody can connect to me as I host racing tournaments with the game NASCAR 2003.Also now my IP# in the game is differant on the multiplayer screen.

All I want to do is turn something off temporarily while I host games so others can connect to me
.
I keep reading to turn off DMZ that being the easiest way or Port Forward.I do not know how to do either one...PLEASE HELP!

You need to look for something on your router called Static NAT and configure it to point to your internal IP address.  You also need to find out what ports your NASCAR game advertises itself on...it's usually high ports (20000-30000).  ONce you find out the port(s), you can create a custom service on your router for those ports, and when you configure Static NAT, it should ask what 'service' you want to advertise.  This basically tells the router to forward all inbound traffic, looking for those particular ports, directly to your IP address, which will allow users on the Internet to see your game server.
Cheers!

For Nascar the game 2014 you cannot put sponser stickers on your car using the Logitech Racing Wheel

It's not a penalty, they didn't program the game to allow what you are trying to do to happen. Just use a controller for that part of the game.

Netgear WGR614 v6 I would like to host Nascar races & need to open TCP Port 8590 to allow this to happen . Can anyone help me ? Thanks Lenny

You need about 3 pieces of information to make this work; the machine that's going to serve's IP address, the password to your router, and a machine on the network.

You can let the serving machine obtain an IP address automatically, but if it changes you will have to reset your server IP address all the time. So, for fun, give it an address in your IP range, generally 192.168.1.x. Pick a number like maybe 250. Then, log into your Netgear (192.168.1.1) and use admin and the password to get to the router web page. On the left tab, go to port forwarding, create a new custom service, and put in 8590 and the IP address of the server.

Once you apply it, it will show up in the table and you'll see what port, a name, and the internal IP address 8590 goes to.
