How to change zone/region for HP Photosmart C3180

We have HP Photosmart C3180 printer from Japan (Zone 3)and was shipped to the Philippines (Zone 1). The original cartridges was supposed to be HP132 & HP136. However those cartridges were not available in the Philippines instead HP92 & HP93. How can we change the Zone/region code of the printer so that we could use cartridges from the Philippines (HP92 & HP93)? Thanks

I have a HP 6210 All-In-One printer. Same problem. HP will not get another cent out of me for regional coding of their products. It's a market controlling strategy that only works against their customers. HP can make all the profits they like, but it sure won't be coming out of my pocket anymore.

A RESET HAS TO BE DONE ON THE PRINTER. NO OTHER WAY POSSIBLE WITHOUT DOING A RESET. CALL UP CUSTOMER CARE. WAIT FOR A CALL FROM THE BACK END TEAM...THEY WOULD ASSIST YOU WITH IT WITHIN 24 HOURS. RESET WOULD BE DONE FOR REGIONALIZATION ISSUE. NOTE : ONLY 3 MAXIMUM RESETS POSSIBLE FOR THE UNIT.

I have a HP Photosmart C3180 that I bought in the US and now trying to install UK cartridges, but it tells me that the cartridge is incorrect. How do I re-set the printer to accept the UK cartridges?

The reason behind this is the regionalization capability of your product. The printer sets its region/zone after printing a few pages with a particular ink cartridge, once the region/zone is set, the printer would only recognize ink cartridges that are bought from the region/zone it's set to. You can click on the link to determine the compatible cartridges that you may use with your printer.

Only certain cartridges are compatible with your product. This document lists compatible cartridges by country/region. Use one of the following methods to check which cartridges are compatible with your product.Click on the link below for more information.

Change regional code from europe to us for hp Photosmart C3180

Currently, it's a very convoluted process involving a phone call to HP tech support. Unless things have changed, you are also restricted to changing the region code 3 times over the lifetime of the printer. Having said that...see this page here at FixYa:

Zone configuration

Just call 1*800*474*6836. Only higher techs are allowed to reset the region of the printer. Don't worry if the printer is already out of warranty. You will still not be billed, just make sure that the cartridges are still in warranty. Then tell the agent that you have a problem in regionalizing the inks. HP will support that problem for free if the ink is still under warranty. You can find the end of warranty date of the ink on the cartridge itself.

Change region codess on printer hp c3180

Hi ,
Let me fist inform you that the question you asked for is related to "regionalization" of the printers . It is very particular to HP printers.
You can just regionalize your printer thrice in the enitre printer lifetime - not more than that. And the codes you are referring to - they are not there somewhere - they have to be logged in by the back end team who decode the "10-tap test" to re-enter the codes for regionalization so that the printer becomes compatible in the region you are using it in.
The cartridges even change in every country to make the printer work - let me state you how.....as per www.hp.com
HP Photosmart C3100 All-in-One series This product uses regionalized ink supplies, so the inkjet print cartridges for the product depends on where you are in the world. If you do not know which pen regionalization zone you are in, click here to view the Regionalization Country-to-Zone Mapping Table . Once you know the zone, you can identify the cartridges used in this product. Cartridge Description Zone 1 Zone 2 Zone 3 Zone 4 black inkjet print cartridge HP 92 HP 336 HP 132 HP 850 tri-color inkjet print cartridge HP 93 HP 342 HP 136 HP 854 black inkjet print cartridge Not availaible HP 338 HP 131 Not available tri-color inkjet print cartridge HP 95* HP 343 HP 135 HP 855 photo inkjet print cartridge HP 99 HP 348 HP 138 HP 858 *The HP 95 is not compatible with printers sold only in North America; instead, use the HP 93 Tri-color cartridge. Refer to the link to understand how the world is divided into 4 zones - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bpa00586&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=1146331#zone_mapping And you can beleive into what i say as I work for HP printers....! the best i would suggest is to call up Technical / Customer Care centre and tell them you need to reset....they will assist you for 10-tap test and ask you to send them the 10-tap test and the Proof of Purchase of the region cartridges.....and then wait for the back end team to call you within the next 48 hours.
