1. Switch on your mobile phone's camera in one hand
2.Focus the sensor of your remote towards the camera.
3. Press any button of the remote and watch the sensor of remote in the screen of mobile....
If u can see a blue light coming out of sensor then d remote is fine and if not then u need to change it .
There is a powerbutton on my sony TV - no amount of pressing the remote will activate the telly unless I forstpop the power button on the top. Once it has been initiated teh remotes work fine.
ALSO check the remote is working by activating a digital camera - can even be a smartphone - point the remote at the lens and you should see a flashing light on the camera screen, if not, check the batteries etc (try another remote for something you know is working to compare the result)
If all that fails, it may well be the TV that's broken.
The Sky+ remote should automatically default to Sony TV's. Leave the batteries out for a few minutes and try again. The Code for Sony is 0000.
Or try this :-
With TV and sky box on.
Press the 'TV' button on the remote.
Hold down the 'select' and the 'red' button (of the four coloured buttons) together, until the red light on the remote blinks twice. (takes 2 seconds)
Press the 'TV' button again.
Now enter four zeros, the red light on the remote should blink twice.
Press the 'standby' button (top right).
If the TV turns off, then press 'select' and the light should blink twice again, job done.
If the TV does not turn off then press 'TV' followed by 'standby' again.
Alternate pressing 'TV' 'Standby' until the TV turns off.
When it does, finish by pressing 'Select.
Check the red light on the remote, if it blinks 3 times, then it has run out of options for 0000.
The flashing light indicates the TV is in protection mode. Most likely logic board. Not sure what your model is but its usually the board that has your digital inputs in it ex HdmI etc. Post your model and you should get some one to post more info Ex ( LG XXX has a common problem with tuner board)
Try with the philips this method:
Manually turn on the tv or the device to be controlled.
Push and hold the code search button until the red lights stand. Now release the button push and release the tv button, then you got to push and release the on off button until the device turn off stop push and release the enter button.
You might need to push the on off button 1 to 150 times.
Just a thaught, I could be wrong, maybe a problem with the power button on the remote ? It might shut the TV off, and when you do keep pressing the remote button, the red light on the TV will keep flashing like that also. Ive seen this prob on a few other blogs, so seems to be pretty common. I know I like to keep the remote pointed at the TV all the time, maybe try pointing it away for a while, just to see.
Yes there is search mode, but unfortunately you have to look in the manual. I am using 3 universal remote controls (one from sony) and all of them have different procedures for entering the code or searching for the code.
The idea is, once the rm is in search mode, you have to wait until the TV turns off (or no) and you have to stop the search and save the setting.
If you have no manual and the code is just 2 digits, you can try the 99 codes. This may take you maybe an hour or so (better than nothing).
If it has 3-digits, it's a problem.
