Model MF12266AES French door fridge seems to be stuck in defrost mode. We were told there is a way to 'reboot' the system on the fridge (maybe by pressing the light button inside a number of times). Does anyone know how to 'reboot' the fridge?

Hello Jennifer

Here is my step by step instructions to follow.

1. Look inside your refrigerator and locate the temperature control switch. This is usually situated around the middle of the refrigerator's back panel. Some switches have a wheel mechanism, whereas others use digital displays.
2. Turn the temperature control wheel down to zero or switch to "Off" if you have a digital display.
3. Move your refrigerator away from the wall. Refrigerators are extremely heavy, so enlist the help of another person, if possible.
4. Unplug the refrigerator cord from the wall outlet. Leave unplugged for around two or three minutes.
5. Attach the power supply back to the wall outlet and position the refrigerator back against the wall. Your refrigerator temperature is now reset. Switch the temperature control back to "On" and adjust the temperature to the level required.
6. Open the ice making area of your refrigerator if it is producing watery ice cubes or an inconsistent water supply.
7. Locate the water filter status light inside the ice maker. This is usually a small rectangular light situated at the side of the ice maker.
8. Push the switch next to the status light seven or eight times in quick succession. This will reset your ice maker.
9. Check the status light. This should turn from red to green once the switch has been pressed several times. The green color indicates the ice maker has been reset.
Remember if you FRIDGE is on warranty you just send it first to the manufacturer.

Best Regards

SOURCE: Digital display is blank in GE Profile fridge

Hi. Its either a bad motherboard or control board. I would check the control board for any obvious signs of damage to the board first. I've seen the control board go blank on the GE side by side and it turned out to be the motherboard. The motherboard is located behind a cover on the back of your refrigerator cabinet. You should have a new motherboard on hand at all times because they fail alot. Be sure to put a surge protector on your refrigerator. Good Luck, Mack

SOURCE: cannot get the fridge to start cooling

If the panel temperature reads 0 F 0 F it is in the "DEMO" mode. This is normal if you purchase a floor model. To bring it back to normal mode press ENERGY SAVER & ADJUST FREEZER together for 3 to 5 seconds until it beeps. Then unplug the referidgerator for at least 30 seconds. Then plug it bck in. That will reset the stupid computer and get it back to normal operation.

SOURCE: Gets stuck in defrost cycle, new thermostat already fitted

If you would like to stop the defrost timer from intermittently causing this, the defrost timer will need to be replaced. It's a simple part to replace and not expensive. Thanks, Sea Breeeze

SOURCE: control panel on my fridge

Pull the power cord for 5 minute to reset the control board. if this control panel malfunction still exist after the reset, replace the control circuit board.

This is a typical control fault that should be corrected by pulling power for 5 minutes. if not, this reset will confirm major damaged to the circuit board.

Defrost Timer

Probably a control Board problem. Without model #, I can't say for sure, but your fridge probably has a defrost board and not a timer.

Maytag MF12266AES freezes food in refridgerator compartment

A common problem to this is the damper (vent from freezer) is bad or just stuck open, try defrosting it and adjusting the position so that you reduce the amount of cold air going into the fridge, hopefully it'll just be stuck in the open position and you well have no further problems. Always here to help.. Richard.
