PT-53WX42 IC replacement

I am not a TV Repairman but i am pretty good with electronics. My PTV has a problem w/ the green color warping from the bottom and the top of the screen tward the center of the screen. I was told the integrated circuits need to be replaced? Is this something i can do myself and if so does anyone have the schematic sheets and know of a place to buy them online? Thank you in advance, Jason

    Hello TVtechmaniac,

Where can I find these resistors? What are the exact values?

Are all the resistors associated with these IC's (STK392-110) the same?

The two convergence IC's are generic part# STK392-110 and Panasonic part# C5AA00000203. Also check for burnt or discolored resistors nearby. Since this is such an easy repair,a schematic is not necessary....The hardest part is identifying the burnt resistors and aligning the green convergence in the service menu.

you need new convergence chips, there are 2, part number stk 392-110, also you must check for burnt resistors, if you don't have very good soldering skills at least, you will need a tv repairman.

Like the blue color is gone and see a double image now

You should have a TV repairman look at your set to see if you have a bad tube in the set, It might just be a convergence ishue, if thats the case it might be worth fixing.

PT-53WX42 53 Blue curve problem

If you've already replaced the convergence IC's and confirmed the coolants in each tube are filled, you probably need a factory level convergence done.

The procedure is 18 pages long and requires a NTSC pattern generator to do correctly. You need a funtional remote. Personally I'd recommend finding a well-trained tech to do it for you. Takes
about 2 hours to do both 480 and 1080 modes. Anyone who tries to do it from home without equipment is asking for headaches. It's hard enough to do in our shop... (were factory service for Matsushita)

You might get away with a minor touch-up for any particular area, but going into the factory-level setup mode without knowing what you're doing is not recommended - you may find yourself replacing the EEPROM.

Good luck, Mark

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together convergence repair kits for most models.

The kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, etc. Everything you will need to do the repair yourself.
