At&t 1739 answering machine

Get remote access code from the machine get it by pressing set up button on answering machine. Go to another phone when machine picks up enter access code then enter *7 record new message press 5 when done then to end call enter *9

Hi If you call it from another phone then enter remote access code the machine will tell you what the code is if you press set up[ button. then *7 record greeting then press 5 to end call pree *9

I had a power outage and my answering machine keeps blinking and says power outage and gives me the time. How can I erase that ****? Help please. This is an AT&T 1739 machine.
