Cassette Recorder play problem

Cassette player turns off within about 2 sec's after inserting a cassette to play. Rewind and FFWD stop also after about 1 to 2 seconds. When pushing button to play it turns back off right away.

Brand new player played about 30 seconds of a brand-new tape, having the same issue on deck A. Tried power cycling to no avail. Where s the tape tension sensor so I can take a look at it?

Left(Playback) deck of cassette player turns off within about 2 sec's after inserting a
cassette to play. Rewind and Fast Forward stop also after about 1 to 2 seconds.
When pushing button to play it turns back off right away. I suspect the end of tape/tension sensor is the culprit but do not know where it is. Have not taken any steps except finding this site first off!

The motion sensor in the unit whatever it is is not working. Sometimes it is a belt from the reel table that turns a mechanism that keeps a piece moving to kep it from going into auto shut off. The belt if lose will not be turning this part. Look into the mechanism and determine what is linked to the reel table and determine how the auto shut off works. Once you know that the course of action becomes clear.

Sounds like the tape tension sensor is stuck. The sensor is always telling the mechanism that the tape has reached the end.

Video cassette player/recorder LGRC 689D wont rewind properly

The problem is in the idler assembly inside the machine, some use rubber that dry out and crack, or there is a spring loaded double clutch wheels that get weak over time. In order to fix this the idler assembly must be replaced.

Where is the rewind on this cassette player?

Cheap cassette players have no rewind feature. This allows the mechanism to be simpler and cheaper; they just 'pull' the tape forward constantly, without the pinch wheel for "fast" [sic] and with the pinch wheel for "play".

To work out if this is the problem with your cassette player, look inside with no cassette inserted. If one of the spindles is plain, without the "three-pronged" device to engage with the spool, then you have the cheap device with no rewind. Turn the tape over, and fast-forward.

Wont play cassette

Usually when this happens it is either the "Pinch Rollers" or the "Drive" motor, has failed. You need to get it looked at.

Dictaphone ExpressWriter system - tape will not rewind, play, ff

Is this a standard-size cassette unit? Is the model number a 2740 or 2750? When you first plug the power in, does the machine make two clicking noises? Does the display show 'CAS' or 'No Cassette'?

Foot pedal

If you cannot play, rewind or fast forward, but you hear a light "click" coming from the cassette compartment, then more than likely you have a broken drive belt, or the circuit controlling the play and/or rewind/ff mechanisms are out. In either case it sounds like you need to send it in or take it somewhere for repair.

Teac A-21 Stereo Cassette Tape Deck turns un, but won't play cassette tapes...

very likely that the drive belt has broken. I have fixed a TEAC myself using a large O-Ring from a hardware store (I know I was lucky to find a very close match). Open the unit and find the broken belt and take it to a hardware store to "size up" a replacement. Use the opportunity to oil the gear shafts and clean the rubber pinch roller.
