The Maytag Centennial is not designed to easily "pop" the top. Once the top is up, removing the 2 Torx screws still doesn't let you remove the front panel. Many dryers, including the old one we had, did work this way, but the Maytag Centennial is poorly designed/constructed.The Maytag Centennial is not designed to easily "pop" the top. If its that kind that is curved slightly and drops in from the top then most likely there is a lose screw head sicking out blocking it. Most dryers the top comes off after removing four screws or so. Then you can look inside. If you have to get into the back though you will have to remove more but its mechanically very simple. Just a drum with a motor and a pully that has a timer. If it has the lint trap inside the door then your best bet is that something came loose and is obstructing it. Again probably a screw or piece of plastic.
You will have to take the back off the mach then remove the lint trap cover I think there are 5 screws slide the cover the side and you should be able to remove whatever it is make sure to unplug the mach.
The pen has fallen into the blower housing and is hitting the fan blades.
Unplug the dryer!! Remove the two screws at the top of the lint trap. Remove the rear panel. Remove the four screws at the bottom that attach the lint filter housing to the blower housing. Then, remove the pen from the blower housing.
You probably have lint buildup inside the machine. try reaching inside it with a brush or something to clean it out. Also, it may be dusty, but run it for a few seconds with the lint trap out. That may blow the obstruction out.
1) check the lint trap, and reach way into the dryer to remove all lint.2) Look at the dryer motor, and make sure that it spins freely (toys and small objects fall into the lint trap and drop into fan. While there make sure you remove all lint
its not too hard to get out. you will need a #2 phillips screwdriver and or a 1/4" socket driver remove lint trap remove 2 screws at lint trap unplug unilt open the top (2 clips between lid and front panel in the crack, push them with a butter knife or putty knife to release top) opens like a hood pull out dryer and pull off rear panel on the left hand side there is a metal duct like thing lol that leads to the lint trap at the top. there should be 4 screws at the bottom where it gets round. remove them, and wiggle the duct open. your pen should be there..
