Is the cd player responsive when you use other features other than the cd player? Weird power problems (you can hear occassional click-clicks from the internal stabilizer) sometimes stop the player from working properly. Also, check whether your cd player's motor is able to spin-up... try to listen to see whether the motor is struggling while speeding up/ not spinning up at all.

the sensor for the table cna't read the table movement. it's an optic sensor and it might be dirty or obstructed. you can open up the unit and blow out any dust with canned air. check the sensor for damage.
