Check these things:
1) Click the Start menu button > Click Control Panel (Or Settings > Control Panel), Click Sounds and Audio Devices > Click the Audio Tab: Do you have a Default Device listed under Sound Playback and MIDI playback?
This also may say "Available Device" which you could change to the other option in the drop-down menu as a test. If you change it, restart first, and then attempt sound.
2) Press and hold "Windows Logo" Key + Press the "Pause Break" key on your keyboard > Click Hardware tab > Click Device Manager:
Do you have a
multimedia driver configured and installed with no problems. (Problems
being exclamation points or with a red "x")?
There are many other issues that can cause this. Please check these first and let us know.

The above code refers to Bad Sound Drivers.
You need to update or reinstall the existing drivers.
