Try resetting the ipod while its connected to the computer by holding both the menu and center button at the same time for 6-10 seconds until you see an apple appear on the screen. You may need to repeat the reset. If this fails your looking at a hardware issue most likely. Good Luck.
Try pushing down and holding for at least 5 seconds the Menu button and the center Select button, at the same time. This should force your iPod to restart and it should eventually again be discovered in iTunes. Using the Restore option aftwerwards in iTunes is adviceable, at least make sure your iPod has the last version of its software. Good luck!
To user VIVS919, even though you lost the reciept you can call apple at 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273) They should replace your iPod under warranty. {Just don't admit to any "accidental" damage}
You need to reset your ipod. Flip the hold switch on then off, then press select button and menu button at same time. Hold for 10 seconds or so. Ipod should shut off and reboot to apple screen. If this doesn't work first time try again. This should solve any stuck screen problems. Mine was stuck on pioneer screen and this operation fixed it.
