I would like simple steps to transfer VHS to DVD on my Toshiba DVR620KY. I want to copy with the unit alone. Would appreciate your help. Thanks.

Hi ,

Please follow the instructions below to record from VHS to DVD. You may not be able to record from some pre-recorded VHS cassettes due to copyight protection embedded into the recording. You should stick some tape over the copy-protection tab on cassettes prior to recording if the tab has been removed. On some cassettes, there may be a slide switch which needs to be moved to the record/rec position. All pre-recorded cassettes will have the copy-protection tab removed.

1. Switch on the TV and DVD/VCR and select the correct input on the TV for the player.
2. Set the player for the recording direction, i.e. VCR to DVD . . .

- Press the SETUP key on the Toshiba remote to open the on-screen menu
- Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to highlight GENERAL SETTING then press ENTER
- Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to highlight RECORDING then press ENTER
- Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to highlight DUBBING MODE then press ENTER
- Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to highlight VCR > DVD then press ENTER
- Press the SETUP key again to close the on-screen menu

3. Press VCR to select VCR mode.
4. Insert the cassette you wish to record and fast-forward or rewind it to the position where you want to start recording from. Allow at least 5 seconds extra if not starting the recording from the beginning of a cassette.
5. Press PLAY then press PAUSE immediately.
6. Press DVD to select DVD mode
7. Insert a blank DVD
8. Press the REC MODE button to select the recording mode (XP / SP / LP, etc)
9. Press the DUBBING key to start the recording.

You can watch the VCR while it's recording. When you reach the point where you want the recording to end, press the STOP key. You do not need to repeat step 2 every time you record. The player will stay in VCR > DVD recording mode unless you change it.

Hopefully, you will now be able to record from VCR to DVD. If you need further assistance, please let me know.

Regards,
BElectric

How do you record dvd to vhs and from vhs to dvd

For VHS to DVD, put the tape to dub in the VHS slot and a blank DVD in the DVD tray. Make sure the DVD is compatible with the DVD recorder (see the recommended disc list) and is unfinalized if you are using a R/W disc. Close the tray. Set the unit to VCR mode with the DVD/VCR button. Advance the tape to the place that you want the recording to start. Then press the Dubbing button (either on the remote or the unit itself). Select the recording mode (SP, LP etc), highlight Dubbing then press Enter or Dubbing. Press Stop to interrupt the recording.

For DVD to VHS, put a blank tape in the VCR (make sure the protection tab has not been broken off) and the DVD to duplicate in the DVD tray and close the tray. Put the unit in DVD mode by pressing the DVD/VCR button. Find the point at which you want to start recording the DVD. Again press Dubbing and set up the recording mode and highlight Dubbing and press Enter or Dubbing.

Note that copyprotected content can not be recorded.

The manual for this recorder is on the right side of the page here: http://www.lg.com/us/tv-audio-video/video/LG-dvd-recorder-RC897T.jsp . See page 48 for the screen captures of setting the recording mode part of the dubbing procedure.

I hope this helps.

I would like to tape my programs on the vcr(goldstar) I am not used to this product

do you wish to record while watching or while away.....while watching make sure your vcr is set to CH 3...when the show comes on press record
(a blank tape should be inserted) the red button on most vcrs.......while away the channel selector must be on the ch you wish to record...using the remote for the vcr press menu/program a event (this is where your vcr most have the correct date / time and not flashing 12:00)..set the day..time to start recording and time to stop recording..your ch will always be 3..now that vcr is set the main thing is make sure that cable channel selector is on that channel

happy recording

The timer used to work with analog cable TV but it does work with our cogeco digital cable TV. When the timer goes on, the little red VCR icon vanishes which means we are recording a blank, blue screen....

Some TV's output the signals for recording in different ways. It depends on how the VCR is connected to the TV. Have a look around the TV's menu or the instruction manual to see if has a setting for outputting signals to VCR's.

Can't find the correct way to hook up my vcr to my dvd recorder to record vhs to dvd disc. could someone please give me some instuctions on hookup please. thanks

connect yellow, red, and white RCA jacks (video, audio rt and lt) to the "out" on the VCR. If your VCR isn't stereo it will only have one audio plug.

Connect the other end of the jacks 9yellow, red, and white) to the "in" jacks probably marked Aux in, on the DVD recorder.

Now follow the instructions on the DVD recorder to set to Aux in (some have two aux front and back). Should have a button for it on the remote.

With the dvd, tv , and vcr on, you should see the VCR on the screen. Start the tape and press record on the dvd, you are set.

I have an old sanyo vwm 710 vcr. I have a new hdtv. I can play tapes on the tv if I change the input on the tv. I have selected line 1 on the vcr, but cannot get any channels to come on to record. The...

Not really a solution....RCA customer services (from India, I think), says that there is no way with that VCR because both the front and back (red, yellow, white) ports are input, and the only other jack on the tv is the one for the antenna. Since the digital converter is inside the tv, a splitter would do no good.
I would still have to get either a new VCR with the digital converter in it or get another converter box. An atmosphere of bait and switch is covering this hdtv scheme....

DVD & VCR Recorder Model ZV450MW8A

My grandmother had the same problem. Whenever you press "timer set" to set the timer, it automatically turns off the VCR and whenever you turn it back on the VCR is locked and it's stuck on DVD. All you have to do is press "timer set" to unlock the VCR side. Then you may have to press "VCR" to switch it back. Hope this helps.

How to set the vcr to record

Hi I'm not familiar with your model in particular, but normally there will be a timer button on the remote that you must press, or you must turn the vcr off after programming it for the timer recordings to be made. There should be a timer indicator on the front, either a symbol or a red light depending on the age of the vcr. If you program it, then press the timer button on the remote, the timer light should be on and the vcr will shut itself off, if it is the other type, then the timer indicator should stay lit when you shut off the machine. If that light is on, then your timer recordings should work. Hope this helps, good luck!
