Sony HD Projection TV - Picture bent and seeing multiple colors

When I turned on my TV last night, Sony KP-46WT520, the picture was bent inwards on the top and the bottom, and a little bit on the sides. Also, I was seeing multiple colors (cyan, magenta, yellow). It was working fine 2 days ago.

I haven't specifically done any work on tvs, but I am tech savy and would like to fix it myself. What do I need to do?

This is due to failure of convergence out ICs that need to be replaced in D board.
If you are comfortable with TV repair let me know to provide you technical info to fix TV.

You need to replace IC9400 & IC9401 (same part number) on D board of TV. Take off back cover of TV and D Board is middle one of three boards in TV. There you will see two big silver heat-sink, convergence Ics are mounted on these silver heat sink. Unsolder 18 pins of each IC, take them out, put new IC and solder pins with PCB.
D board marked in below image..

    IC9400 6-600-383-01 IC STK394-510
    IC9401 6-600-383-01 IC STK394-510

Available in Part Store for $53 each.

Ok, please find above, a user manual above that, is a service manual, this will help you troubleshoot and repair this unit, if you so wish. So, it is nearly always my professional opinion that one should always get a "Quote" from the manufacturers recommended service center, Sony, in your case, please contact a local or head office and ask for a referral to an Authorised service center. I cannot stress how important that last point is. It is even worth the cost of shipping. You see an authorised service agent, will have trained staff, trained on their brand, also they have first hand access to parts, original parts. This will actually save you money and ensure you can actually get it back fixed. Of course asking for a "Quote" also gives on the option of repair or replace. Often my clients,do not go through with repair, unless it is moderate, but in some of the more costly jobs they see it, as do I, that a replacement, with a warranty, is a better option. As an aside here, one could then tear the TV down, and sell the Known Good bits. You'd be surprised who needs parts, i myself often must by from third party sources to effect a repair. So money could be recouped, somewhat, and help out someone else.

I'm having a problem with the color green being distorted on my TV. Is this a color tube issue, bulb issue, lamp issue?

This is a picture tube type TV. No lamp.
You don't describe the distortion.
A colour green picture that is twisted and shifted away from the other colours is a convergence problem. see Projection TV Convergence on this site.
If the green is smeared, out of focus, larger than the other colours like a halo around objects, things like that, it is the green picture tube. Sony has discontinued most of the picture tubes so you may not be able to get this fixed.

The screen looks out of focus and the top and botton bend inward.

Remove front bottom panel behind it is a small black control box top controls are focus controls for R/G/B and Bottom 3 controls are your screen drives adjust one at a time turn off G/B adjust red first, then Do Green and Blue fter adjusting focu to each tube leave them set then adjust screen drive turn color off adjust RGB for a Black and white picture get as close as you can then turn color back If after doing this you still have blurry looking picture look down into Tubes you should be able to see picture clearly in each one if you cannot see picture then projection Fluid need to be changed out. Call Mats 1-800-628-1118.

The tv doesnot turn on

either the lamp needs to be replace which eventually happen in all rear projection tvs. Do you have colored lights, flashing lights on tv? It is also very possible that the power supply may need to be replaced. If you have colored or flashing lights, please let me know which ones they are and if they are a solid light or flashing and how many times it flashes.

If the tv has sound no picture, than it is your lamp. If you have nothing what so ever, than your power supply may have to be replaced.
