Changing from Spanish to English

1. Press the flash/program button until “1ENG 2FRA 3ESP “ shows in the display. “1ENG “ is the default setting. 2. Use the cid/vol (+ or -)button or the handset number pad to enter your selection. 3. Press flash/program to store selection.

Once a particular system is displayed, short and long presses of the STEP button will move the EVIC through the system menu. Pressing and holding theSTEP button once will clear the resettable function currently being displayed. Reset will only occur if a resettable function is currently being displayed. To reset all resettable functions, press and release the STEP button a second time within 3 seconds of resetting the currently displayed function (Reset ALL will be displayed during this 3 second window).

You need to use the remote to go to the setup menu and set the language to English, or if you are in the USA set it to US English, which is different from English.

Found below instructions - should work to change from chinese as well.

Your Brother machine's LCD can display information in English or Spanish. The default language is English.
To change the language on your Brother machine's LCD, follow these steps:

1. Press Menu, 0 (Initial Setup), 0 (Local Language).
   
   
2. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose English or Espanol.
   
   
3. Press the OK key.
   
   
4. Press the Stop/Exit key.

The problem is not from the battery you changed. It should be from the sim card you changed. The phone's language is set to automatic, therefore it reads sim card languages automatically. To rectify this, since you do not understand spanish:
Option 1
-Put back the english sim then go to settings, and set your default language to English only

Option 2
-Send me your phone name and model so I can give you a reset code

When English is selected, press Save, then press [OFF].

took the batery out and when I put it back in the spanish --English popped up on the screen and I pushed the button under English.

Try going into the television, and changing the audio setting to stereo, it sounds like it set to SAP (second audio program).
