Re: hooking up a dvd player
As you say that it is old tv so there is a possibility that there may not be audio video socket where dcd player can be connected.
You will have to purchase one video RF converter.RF converter contains one video input in yellow color & two audio input in red & white colour & one cable connector as output.
Connect the dvd output to this converter & tune tv program in which place you receive dvd signal.

hate to say it, but i've found tv/dvd combos to be very bad investments! the dvd units don't seem to last. if the t-v still works o.k., then get a separate dvd player/recorder, or player. hook it up to the t-v inputs, and, if it is a reliable brand (not super-cheap), it should give good service. i have an older Emerson dvd player, and it's given me good service, so far! good luck!
try getting an rf modulator, they are about 20 bucks at walmart, i had to do that for my dad, his tv had the hookups but it still wouldn't work. try that you might be able to hook up the dvd, tv, and dish network plugs all in one.
hey 1st of all you gotta make sure that your son made tha right connections with the av cable (this is the cable with three different coloured pins) from your DVD to your tv. if this doesnt solve your problem then make sure you are using the correct av channel on your tv set that will allow you 2 play your DVD player because sometimes you cant play your DVD on thhe same av cannel you watch normal tv

Try turning off the converter box when using the DVD player. The zenith have a second sound control on the converter box remote thus you may have to adjust the sound on the tv remote because you are using the dvr. I set the zenith sound level at the highest level and use on the tv remote only to adjust sound. This eliminated a hiss that the sound control on the converter box was causing.
