When i do all those things,

it just makes a humming noise but never starts the cycle

  • johnl3330 Apr 18, 2009

    no error messages

    nothing is displayed

  • Jeff Meyer May 11, 2010

Sorry to repeat myself, but do you ever get any error messages?

Is ANYTHING displayed in the display?

  • Jeff Meyer May 11, 2010

I have not used an LG LDF6920 but I own an LDF8812.

I have looked at the user manual for your dishwasher. Pressing rinse on your dishwasher only selects the high temp cycle and multiple rinses, it does not start the dishwasher.

So, when you do the following , what happens?

    -Power on the dishwasher
    -Press the Normal cycle
    -Close the dishwasher

    What displays on the dishwasher?
Does the dishwasher begin a fast drain cycle and then begin to fill with water?
Does it ever beep and then display an error code?

Please report back so we can solve this! OK?

With nothing displaying and only the humming sound, it appears that the main controller card (PCB) has most likely failed.

If it were my dishwasher, I would add a pitcher of water (more than two big glasses full), close the door and start a cycle and listen at the drain. The first thing a dishwasher does is run the pump to empty any standing water before it fills up. If you hear that water drain, (and can see that is has drained from inside the dishwasher) it is not as broken as I think it is.

BUT, this dishwasher should be displaying something from the moment you press the power button.

Please post back with what you find and decide you do. OK?

Just hums won t start

Their is 2 screens towards the back right that are plugged up. . You can take out 2 screws out and clean them up. Or the fill level adjustment in the front left isn't working right. It also can be fixed with 2 screws and cleaned.

Error code e01

do the following steps: God bless you
To start test program, press and hold both POWER SCRUB PLUS and RINSE & HOLD program buttons, then turn unit on by pressing ON/OFF button. When program buttons are released, lights above them will flash. To end test program, press ON/OFF button. To check program indicator lights (POWER SCRUB PLUS, REGULAR WASH and RINSE & HOLD), press and hold each program button. When REGULAR WASH program button is pressed, CLEAN light also comes on.
To start testing, press both POWER SCRUB PLUS and RINSE & HOLD buttons a second time. When testing has ended and a fault was detected, the following indicator lights will be lit:
POWER SCRUB PLUS = Heater fault
REGULAR WASH = Water filling fault (over or under filling)
RINSE & HOLD = NTC (temperature sensor) fault ? note circulation motor stops shortly after it started during an NTC fault
To check for heater, high limit or flow switch problems, start testing until heating starts. Using a meter with a current coil, measure current going into dishwasher. If current is ~ 11 A, then heater, high limit and flow switch are OK. If current stays at ~ 1.5-2 A, then heater, high limit or flow switch are faulty.
If water level switch (f1) has failed (opened), REGULAR WASH light will come on and unit will continually fill and drain where testing won't be completed. If flow switch (e5) has failed (opened), water won't heat (to 150?F) and water won?t stop circulating. If NTC probe (f2/f4) has failed (opened), RINSE & HOLD light will come on immediately and testing will end shortly after water has started circulating.
If more than one fault occurs, more than one light will be lit.

My LG LDF6920St has not been cleaning very well recently and there was an odor and grease left in the bottom after a wash. I pulled it out and found the Float Assembly pretty clogged and dirty, which I...

1 Scrape and rinse dishes before putting them in your appliance. Small food particles, grease, sauces and bones clog up the system, keeping the dishwasher from properly rinsing your dishes. You don't need to prewash the dishes but be sure to rinse off any solids.
2 Use a toothbrush to clean around the dishwasher door.
Clean around the seal and hinges of the dishwasher. This area often is forgotten and holds a good deal of bacteria and food splash. A tooth- or bottlebrush is the best way to get into the crevices.
3 Clean chunks of food out of the screen and drain at the bottom of your dishwasher, recommended The Family Handyman. If the drain is plugged, the dirty water can't be washed away and ends up back on your dishes. Nut, bean and seafood shells, bits of plastic and small dishes can lodge against the drain, keeping it from doing its job.
4 Unclog the holes in the sprayer arms. If the holes are blocked by food or soap, water cannot freely spray inside the dishwasher to thoroughly clean the dishes. Leftover food on the dishes can make the dishwasher smell.
5 Keep space around your dishes. Overloading a dishwasher keeps it from running efficiently, allowing gunk to build up around the drain and the spray arms.
6 Run your dishwasher as hot as possible to break down food and grease. The recommended temperature is 120 F.
7 Run the dishwasher with vinegar added to neutralize odor. Empty the dishwasher, place a dishwasher-safe cup filled with white vinegar on the top rack, and run a cycle at the hottest setting. If you prefer, use unsweetened lemonade powder or baking soda in place of vinegar.

I have a brand new LG dishwasher-LDF6920ST. I

Either:
  1. the water does not get into the dishwasher open the dishwasher 3-4 times during cycle, you should see some water at least once, if not - check water valve, water level float and water pressure.
  2. the pump is clogged - there is water, the motor will run but no water is circulated. Check pump filters, check chopper and impeller.
  3. motor in main pump is not working - could be caused by something stuck on the impeller or chopper or could be a problem with the motor itself or control board. Check if line voltage is coming to the motor during wash/rinse cycle.
Good luck,

We installed an LG dishwasher (LDF6920ST) a couple months ago. It has a horrible odor (stagnant water). Everything is hooked up according to the installation instructions. Draining problem? There is no...

Check that the drain hose end (connected to a garbage disposal?) is not plugged or connected to a slow/plugged drain.

Then run an empty load and start up the dishwasher and wait until the water has finished flowing in. Then open the door and add one cup of vinegar. Allow that cycle to drain and repeat one more time, adding the vinegar _after_ the rinse water has finished being added.

If problems return, use a phillips screwdriver to remove the approximately 9 screws that hold the lower strainer assembly. You will first need to remove the lower spray arm. Inspect with a flashlight looking for any debris in that sump area.

LG LDF6920ST Bottom spray arm dose not work

The LG LDF6920 dishwasher has an innovative "Vario" motor/check valve. It switches between full power spray on the upper arms and the lower arm. So, if you are looking inside the dishwasher to see which arm is spinning, you just have not opened it when the lower arm is turning.
if the root problem is that your dishes are not getting clean with this water conserving DW, go out and buy a name brand detergent powder - like Electrosol or Cascade. And use less powder then you have been using.
Good Luck!
