Battery or Screen problem

Okay my sister was using my computer on battery power and the battery ran down and before I could get it plugged it went into stand by mode but now, even though the battery says it's fully charged the screen s really dark. Very, very dark. I can make out certain things. Enough that I was able to get into the settings and try to fix the brightness levels, you know on the balances, power saver and high performance but the screen remains very dark.

I have a very similar problem. On rebooting the computer though, screen returns to normal, although very occasionally and for no apparent reason, goes black again, requiring another reboot. On contacting Acer for repair under warranty, they say it should be returned but warn a fee of almost £70 will be charged if it turns out to be software related. Any help appreciated.

Look at your function buttons like F11 or F12 (somewhere up there) and see if you find anything that doubles up on those keys to adjust the brightness or darkness of the screen by pressing the FN (fuction) key.

Have you tried checking the BIOS power setting's? should have something for dimming when running on battery.

Solution? - not sure yet but having read solution by Hector_ahab, tried various F() buttons in conjunction with Fn button. Pressing Fn with F6 switches between black and normal screen on my Acer Aspire 5920. Fingers crossed!

Check all your fuses first of all if they are all okay, then you need the computer to be reset when you battery went flat & you jump started the vehicle it would to the vehicle think you had changed the battery just needs to go to Vauxhall garage they should be able to reset then all should be working not a long or expensive job. Hope this helps Best wishes, Malcolm Campbell.

Okay my sister had her tablet she turned it on and it froze at the go screen. So I pushed and held down. The power button and it turned off, and then I don't know why I pressed the reset button but it...

Do a factory reset. Remove all power including internal battery. Let the unit discharge completely. Plug into external power supply and try to start up. If it starts. shut down, put the external cord out , replace internal battery, and recharge for an hour. Now try a strat from the internal batter. If it fails, that s the problem.

My battery ran out,so i plugged my laptop back into the outlet, and it refuses to start up again, the blue power light comes on but the screen stays black and after a few minutes the light goes off again.it...

Okay, disconnect the power adapter from the computer and take out the battery. Then take a compressed air can or a vacuum cleaner and clean the bottom of the computer.
Then connect the power adapter only and see if the computer works then (a laptop can work without the battery in when the adapter is connected). If it does work then connect the battery. If it stops working or gives you an error or if the battery shows that it is not charging, then its probably the battery that is faulty.
Thanks. If this was helpful then kindly rate me.

There seems to be no power getting to the computer. checked the fuse. The last time used, the laptop went off because the power ran down and it was not plugged in. Now it will not power up at all.

There could be a problem with the battery. A fast check to determine whether you have a problem with the power adapter, power cord or the laptop's battery is to turn off the laptop, remove the battery, connect the power adapter, turn on the laptop & see if it works.
If the laptop works directly from the power adapter with the battery removed, then the power adapter is good. In this case we can suspect that the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.

My dell laptop is not turning on with the ac or battery. The LED lights up for a hot min then it turns off. Nothing happens after that. okay. well my dell laptop isnt turning on. the battery is tottally...

Possibley it could be some internal parts. Please try run the onboard diagnostics by holding down Fn and the power button. Make a note of the 3 lights above the keyboard (9,A and the lock key). If it starts for a second and then shut's down, the MoBo will ahve to be replaced. 1501 has known issue and I know this as I work for DELL tech support. Call tech support or chat with them...If the product is under warranty, you should get a replacement.
