Old Teac A601R not working, when you place a tape in it just stops automatically. Is it worth trying to find out what's wrong or is it to old. When you place in a tape and press play it goes forward then changes to rewind, then stops

The unit can be fixed in the right hands. The auto rewind function might be on but the reel rotation sensor is not seeing it move. Probably needs all new belts.

SOURCE: NAKAMICHI CASSETTE DECK 1 NOT PLAYING?

it has probably thrown the capstan belt and will require a new belt fitted. the transport relies on capstan rotation to engage play. a separate reel motor operates ff/rew and takeup funtions

SOURCE: My Teac R-H500 tape deck will not play tapes

The belts will have failed. You will need to replace them for the deck to be reliable. If you are mechanically minded I can talk you through it... You giving me a FixYa rating will help my profile and loosen my lips on how to overhaul your deck. :)

SOURCE: I have a tc-k611s tape

Hi,
Tape mechanism of TC-K611S has three motors, one for loading, second for FF-REW and third for Capstan rotation for tape playback.
It seems either capstan motor is not running or flat rubber belt is off/ broken from motor or capstan.
It is bit complicated tape mechanism however, I do have service manual copy that can be provided to you if that helps .
Thanks.

Canon es55 video camera. Everytime I put a tape in, it ejects it. If I take the tape out, and close the door,it will will automatically close and stay closed

Hi,

Please first make sure that there is nothing within the video camera that was accidentally lodged into the space where the tape would fit.

Also, please double check that you're orienting the video tape properly when inserting it into the video camera. I would also test different tapes to see if the issue is consistent.

Also, you might have to rewind each tape because I think if the tape is at it's end, then it automatically leads to the tape being spit out.

Thank you.

Teac 6010 reel to reel makes static when not playing.

These units are old enough to need new electrolytic capacitors installed in them. I have seen wind like sounds and frying eggs type sound that are all resolved by a new set of caps. These things are from the Vietnam war era and when I was at Teac in the 80's they were considered old then.

Magnavox ZV450MW8 shuts off when trying to rewind.

Unplug the machine and pick it up and shake it, this will tell you if something is in there that shouldn't be or that something broke off.
So many things could be wrong that it is probably not worth fixing if it is not a foreign object inside.

I want my teac w600ro pla y deck a then deck b then stopyt

The unit needs work but it might not be worth repairing- that is up to you but most dual cassette decks were very poorly made units. That is why I always steer people away from them. I worked at Teac in Chicago and in fact still work on decks now under the skywave tape deck repair if you were to look me up.

FF problem on Teac Reel to Reel

You need new brake pads installed as the ones in there now are dried up and may have fallen off. This is very common with older decks or 30-40 years old.
I am still working on these decks at Skywave Tape Deck Repair in the Chicago area.

I have a TEAC AH300 stack with tape deck, cd, etc.. It's about 13 years old work perfect. Can I connect to iPod an listen to music through the TEAC?

If it has aux or audio input then yes, you will still need the docking station to the type of inputs that are available on the Teac. It should all be line level.

My Teac LP-R500 audio cassette player squeaks when playing. Tapes do not squeak on my other player.

It all depends on where the squeak is coming from. Some very clean rubber parts make kind of a squeak but I don't think that is your problem if you use cartridge cleaning systems. The real answer as a 40 year plus Tape Deck Technician is to get in there and see what is causing the squeak- it may need some oil in reel table, Pinch Roller or even the Capstan Bearing. Manufacturers do not like to put oil into
unit as it makes for no repairs and you will not have to buy a new one.
I worked at Teac but this unit is far after my exit- I still do repairs full time on the product though. I am sure I could resolve it- I am in the Chicago are.

Where can I buy a Capstan drive belt for a Teac A-4010 tape recorder??

Go to a consumer electronics repair shop, preferably an old mom&pop op and they will have what you need. If not they can order it for you when they do stocking and save you shipping money from any internet company. I used to work at one is how I know. Have a good one

Teac X-1000r broken drive belt

Gidday Chino

You can get a FRESH belt kit from here. Cost you $10 plus some post. There is a new pinch roller listed against this old girl also could be worth replacing at the same time when you service the deck.

TEAC CX-370 Cassete Deck

Could be a worn out belt? The cassette loads it the drive down too much. Hence why it turns with no tape.
