How to stop Security screens from popping up on my desktop

A month ago, security popup screens began showing up on my screen. What's going on?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Make sure the security warnings are from Microsoft Security Center. Look elsewhere toe see if there refers to a product like MSAntiSpyware2009 or something like it.

You have the Conflicker virus,
You will need to update your virus software and scan for virus.
If you don't have virus protection try AVG free, it should clean it up. you may also want to run Malwarebytes software.

Sounds like you have a spyware infection. Try downloading free Spybot and see if that can find and isolate it for you. Also make sure you antivirus is up to date and run it.

How can I get rid of pop-ups on chrome and Internet explorer--my mcafe security system is working

Hi,
Before jumping into a conclusion that your computer is infected, please check if you have programs like Strongvault, Wajam installed. They will give you popups.
If not use the following tool from McAfee to scan for suspicious files in the computer.

Can't get rid of McAfee popup

Start->Setting->Control Panel->Add/Remove Software
and un-install McAfee software
There should be two or three McAfee related software. After the un-install the software, the popup will be gone!

By the way, it is always safer to have an active Anti Virus protection.

I CANNOT GET ON MY YAHOO MY MESSENGER

Check to make sure it is still installed. Go to
control panel>install/uninstall and look for it on the list of programs. If it is not there you will have to go back to yahoo and download it and reinstall it. If it is there....does the little screen pop up? What stops you? are you stopped at password? You might check your virus control program under internet security and look for items that are checked to not be allowed such as "messenger services" "chat". If these are barred in your security control you won't be able to use them. Also go to Tools>internet options>content and see of anything is blocked there.
If you can't find anythihng and the messenger shows as installed, the proggy has probably become corrupted in someway.I would uninstall it, go toyahoo and do a clean reinstall, meaning before you download it turn off all running programs including your firewall/security. Be sure to turn them back on after you hae reinstalled. Could someone else who uses the computer have changed your settings?
