Old Sound Card worked, new one doesn't

Had a Creative sound card in, tried to up grade to SIIG SoundWave 7.1 surround sound card.  It will play the testing tones and voices perfectly, but does not play any CD/DVD or Rhapsody or any sounds.  Confused why it works with the tests, but not the computer.  Help

I did this.  Program with the disk is what plays the voices and tests.  Has all sorts of dimenstions to set up.  tried them all,  Still only sound from Tests and not from computer.  Can hook up CD/DVD to the soundcard itself, but still would not solve the problem of sound from the programs/videos on the internet.  Have a Biostar motherboard.  Wonder if there is an ?audio jack? on the motherboard itself to hook to the soundcard?

Went back to the CD install program like you suggested and looked through the contents.  Had both Vist and XP files on it.  Apparently the "auto load" loaded the "Vista" drivers and not the XP.  I loaded the XP drivers and everything is working fine now.  Great idea from hittinofr

Is the driver installed properly try that if that is already done perhaps there is a special program it requires rare but not unheard of if you have a disc with the card see if it has a audio program with it.

you must first disable the sound s in the cmos when botting cp hit F1 key or F2 Or the del key and go to perpheials and devices to disable the sound card built in and reninstall the drivers for new device if neccesary.

I just purchased an siig soundwave pci and am getting "don't support this platform - o" when installing the driver via CD. I have windows 8 Pro. What is causing this problem?

Sounds like the driver software is not compatible with Windows 8. Look on packaging for requirements, or readme files on disc. You could also check on their web site for updated drivers.

I am currently on Windows 7 Ultimate and I have surround system of Logitech X-530 and the front 2 speakers a playing sond how do I solve this to make the other work as well? Additional information: I also...

Hi...hard time with your logitech Speaker., do you have a 5.1 sound card install inside your pc, like 6 outputs and two input jack on your sound card... a pro sound card to make your logitech X-50 work like a charm if you dont have... I suggest to by a creative soundblaster pro 5.1, but if you do have a surround sound card with 6 input jack install in your pc and fail to work properly...ride down the model of your sound card and check if it compatible with windows 7., just download the patch for it... good luck.

Can not install Creative Sound Blaster Live! (CT4830) 5.12.01.383 in windows 7

The CT4830 is a pretty old sound card (end-of-life in the early 2000s), and Creative no longer offers any updated drivers for it. If the XP drivers won't work with Windows 7, your only option is to purchase a new card that will.

I just purchased a SIIG SoundWave 7.1 Sound Card and installed it. The trouble is that when I listen to a video or movie it sounds kind of "tinny". My OS is Windows XP.

Dell Dimension 4600 creative sound blaster card

It sounds like you may have broken your sound card. I had the same problem when I tried to digitise my old 4-track recordings.
I tried the broken card in another PC, found that it was not working, so I went out and bought a new sound card.

I have a creative audigy Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Sound Card and Creative 7.1 surround sound speakers. When I was using XP all 7 speakers worked perfectly. Now with my newer Vista machine,...

Uninstall all sound drivers for the card. Delete all folder and use search to locate everything related to the sound card. Remove card , turn comp on w/o card. Turn off reinsert card.
Should fix it.
Vista has many, many issues like this.
If you have more types of sound listed in "SOUNDS" delete all but Audigy.
Re-install drivers AFTER you get ALL NEW VISTA UPDATES>

Sound card is busted on my laptop and was wondering if I can fix it first before I have to spend any money

Sound card on a laptop is integrated on motherboard, and there is no way to fit inside an external one.

Try first reinstalling the driver, you can download the driver from manufacturer website.

If drivers do not fix it, and you are sure the audio chipset is faulty, all you can do is using an external usb card and speakers, like this ones:

Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro USB Audio Adapter
SIIG SoundWave 7.1 Audio Adapter

But most of the times you fix the audio by reinstalling drivers.
