First - have you ever used this memory card in this camera with this card reader connected to this computer - or is one or more "new to to the mix"? If so, which are new?

The obvious stuff is what I like to check out first.. check that the reader is connected to the computer's USB port (switch to a different port if it is and see if your computer displays a message indicating it is installing drivers / reading the memory card). Make sure the card is in the correct slot. Many readers can accept several different memory cards in two or more different slots - make sure you have inserted yours in the correct slot - and oriented properly. The card should slip in easily - not forcing should be required. Some readers maybe connected via USB "hub" that requires power - if yours is set up this way, make sure the power pack is plugged it.

Still nothing? Make sure there are images on the memory card. You should be able to reinsert the card into your camera and play them back on it. If they do play, remove the card and attempt to play them on the camera again - if they play this time, that tells me the images are in the camera's internal memory - not the removable memory card. You will need to transfer them from the camera - not the memory card if this is the case.

If you're still having trouble, please provide the camera & card reader name & model and if you're using Windows or something else. Finally, what is the name model and memory capacity of the memory card? Good luck!

If you can get the pics using a card reader, why are you insisting on using the camera and USB cord? Pros always use a card reader.

SOURCE: Hi...I can't download pics from my canon powershot

You need to find your original Canon solutions software disk and reinstall it. But if you can't find it, please see the following blog article, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue:

Try using a separate card reader to download your pictures to a folder you create on your desktop.

SOURCE: Targus Universal 32 in 1

I have the problematic Windows VISTA on a 64-Bit Machine. The Memory Card Reader had been working fine. It was inserted during one of the Windows VISTA hang-ups, which necessitated a re-boot, for a lack of a better descripition. Since that time, the system recognzies then the USB 2.0 Memory Card Reader is inserted, but it does not recognize when a Compact Flash Card is inserted in the Reader. VISTA instructs me to insert a memory card, when I open the drive in My Computer even when a card is inserted.

How to download pictures from my digital camera to my computer with Targus universal memory card reader/writer TGR-CRD25?

Connect the card reader to your computer. Take the memory card out of the camera and put it into the card reader. The card should now appear to your computer as another removable hard disk. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Downloading picuters directly from your digital camera SD or XD card.

You can purchase a Targus card reader from Walmart which will plug into a USB connector on your computer. Directions on it's usage are included with the card reader. The package says it is compatible with SDHC SD/MMC, XD, Memory Stick, Pro Duo, and Magic Gate.I ran into a problem with the Targus TGR-CRD25 when trying to read an XD or SD memory card 1GB or bigger. Targus fixed it with a note on their web site: To operate plug card reader into
the USB port, go into "My Computer", click "Removeable disk drive", insert your memory card into the card slot and upload your data. Please remove your memory card before disconnecting the card reader.

I have a Kodak M893-IS digital camera. Suddenly

You can try getting an SD card reader with a USB connection. The computer will treat this as another input. You should see a file folder with JPG files in it. This will be your pictures. Just do a "copy" to another file on your computer. Several companys make these card readers. 2 are Vargus and Lexar. I purchased one for my wife's camera the other day at Walmart. It was a "Targus High Speed SD/SDHC Card Reader/Writer". It was around $8.

While attempting to load pics directly from camera to computer pushed MTP option. Now cannot find pics anywhere

Take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. Here's some freeware photo recovery software that should be what you're looking for:

You will need to use a flash card reader with this software. Download pics

If you are using a removable memory card, you can get the images directly from the memory card by using an external card reader (if your computer does not have a card reader for your type of card built in). If you need to download the pictures directly from the camera via the usb cable, you can get the driver from the samsung website... you'll probably have to download drivers for the model 401 which I believe is the same as the 4010. If your computer is running Vista, new drivers may not be available, in which case you will need to use a memory card and card reader.
