My Nutone CV-750 stops running every 15-20 seconds or so, and restarts within 5 seconds, and then stops after again 15-20 seconds, and then stops for 5 seconds over and over and over. Very systematic and predictable. The unit is 9 years old. What could be causing this? The control board? One of the motors? Is it work repairing or should I replace it?

If the top comes off, it will be by the motor and exhaust. Just replace it with the new one, make sure you don't mix up any wires. Also unplug it from the AC first.

SOURCE: Power Unit VX475 Stops Working

the problem is NOT the motor. Its that the motor is not being cooled. You have to replace the whole top. Call Nutone and its only a $30 part

SOURCE: Nutone CV-750 stops during use

This was one of Broan/Nu-Tone's beginning attempts at lower-decibel machines. Like so many of their competitors, they choked the motors in dense foam in the head unit and made it too difficult for them to cool. Make sure that you're not blocking or suffocating the ventilation, but don't be surprised... a plethora of makes and models like this one have had to be pulled and discontinued because of the overuse of muffling foam snuffing out good machines before their time.

Chalk it up to a design flaw and start yanking that foam out. The specs on this puppy make it far too good a machine to pass on just becuase of the manufacturer used you as a beta test before they should have relaeased it from proto. If the increase noise irritates you, read up on sound waves, frequencies and subsonics and get creative in how you isolate the parts that bother you. Chances are, though, you'll be just fine.

Lastly, if you can tell me the age of the machine and get me the numbers off the motors I'd love to know more about this situation you're in. You're running dual 2-stage bypass 12.5 amp motors. That puts you roughly in range of a Lamb 472, one of our industry's most hardy motors. If THOSE are what you're running and they're over-heating, you've got a firehazard in your vac that *somebody* never should have put certification on for marketing.

SOURCE: I need a relay board for a Nutone CV 450 12.6 amp

Unfortunately I don't have a part number for you, but you can call this number 1800.322.2965. Tell them you need a new relay board for your system and they'll be able to help you. They cost around 99$. for anything else you might need, go to www.thinkvacuums.com

SOURCE: have a nutone CV-450. Suction is gone at the

The first thing to do is to disconnect the pipe coming into the unit. If there is suction there than you probably have a break in the line. If there is no suction when you disconnect the pipe coming into the unit than it is most likely the motor gasket. This gasket can sometimes get sucked into the motor causing problems. Remove the lid to the central vacuum, than disconnect the motor, you should be able to tell if maybe the gasket has been off center or if it has been sucked up in the motor.

Nutone central vacuum leaks brown liquid

Dear lord, that is the most absurd thing I've ever heard. Who installed the Vac and DW or were they both in the home before your time?

Normally, if liquid drips out of a CV outlet it's because it was sucked up during vacuuming. However, if your vacuum runs or has suction at the outlets due to the dishwasher running, you have a low voltage gap being bridged by either the dishwasher's wiring or by liquid leaking from it onto the CV wiring somewhere.

Bottom line, you have MAJOR issues inside your home with one or both of the systems, and if there's liquid, there's a dishwasher to be worried about! Look below it for leaks into the basement/lower floor; follow the plumbing (especially the drain waste runs) and figure out where the damage is before your house suffers the lot.

Nutone CV-750

You need to determine if this is a problem with the hose or the unit. I would recommend plugging my hose in the wall sideways. This should make your central vacuum run continuously. If the unit doesn't cut on and off it is the hose. If it still cuts on and off it is probably the relay.

I have a nutone CV-750, and when I am using it, it will shut off and on.. What can I do?

It sounds like you could have one of two problems. I would guess either a short in your house, or a bad relay. If you plug you hose in sideways it will bypass the low voltage wire in the hose. If the unit doesn't shut on and off then you have a short and need a new hose. If the unit continues to cut on and off then you probably need a new relay. The relay is really easy to change out yourself and there are places to buy online.

Nutone cv353 central vac blew up

My guess would be that the motor is done. Impossible to diagnose for sure without seeing it of course. If you were happy with the unit before the trouble, a replacement motor will probably run $250-$300. If you are interested in a new unit, shop around. There are definitely better designed and more powerful units out there, although some of them can cost quite a bit more than $300. Good Luck!!

Nutone central vac vx550

It's a known problem. I bought my vx550 last year in July and it stopped working this year in May. On for 5 minutes, shut down, can't run for a few hours, runs for another five minutes, etc. I called the Nutone customer service department and they exchanged the unit for a new one, cross shipped, via UPS. Mine was still under warranty though. It has to do with some defective thermostat or controller in the electronics of the vacuum.

Good luck
