Camera mode recording/displaying right

When in camera mode my LCD screen and through the view finder images on screen appear so badly distorted that you can barely see what's in the shot. Sometimes screen goes to complete black with flickering as well.

nothing appears on the lcd and viewfinder, plain black screen during camera mode...i use to switch on and off nightshot mode to solve the problem but now it wont work...i bought my handycam 2001, used it often to make family home movies...mine is trv27, same specs only with big lcd...will it b costly to have it fixed that i should rather buy a new handycam?

Handycam DCR-TRV140 in record mode view finder very dim. Play back is very dim also. However old recordings display fine in view finder. Its as though there's not enough light getting in. Thanks and help.

What is the model number? if it's 10 years or older you are most likely dealing with bad surface mounted capacitors.

No image is captured by the screen itself (LCD screen works but completely dark).

Did you try pressing the display button several times? in both viewing mode and record mode? Cycle through all display modes, s you get used to the button, so it does not trow you off when it happens again.

Canon s1 is lens problem

Unfortunately it appears to me that the CCD sensor in your camera is faulty. Canon have acknowledged faulty CCD's were in certain models of camera as per this statement below: "It has come to our attention that the vendor-supplied CCD image sensor used in Canon digital cameras and digital camcorders may cause the following malfunction: When the product is used in recording or playback mode, the LCD screen and/or electronic viewfinder may exhibit either a distorted image or no image at all. We would like to convey the details and our service policy. We sincerely apologize for the considerable inconvenience this presents for customers who use the affected models (listed below). We spare no effort in our quality management to make sure our customers can use our products with confidence. We hope our efforts will earn your understanding." The picture attached is a sample of a CCD fault. You will need to contact your local Canon repair center to find out if yours is covered by any warranty replacement scheme. Please update the question & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!

The problem i m having with my camcorder is when i want to record film screen goes blank but i can watch my previous recorded videos

Look in the view finder when recording instead of the screen. if you see the image there then the unit is probably set to look through there. Many of the new units dont' have a full view finder to lens item they actually have a small lcd screen inside the view finder. Check your options for recording.

Also if the view finder is tilted you need to close that before usign the lcd.

The image will not appear simultaneously on the LCD

monitor and the viewfinder. It will appear in the

viewfinder when the LCD monitor is in the lock position,

and it will appear on the LCD monitor when fully
extended.

My sony cyber shot DSC F717 digital camera has a problem. when turned on, no images on the screen. as well in the view finder.

This problem could be a number of things.
Does it allow you to have any access to the menus? If you can get to the menus, try setting the menus to default settings. Test the camera after setting the menus to default.

Can the camera play back images or videos and show on the screen? If they can be seen, then possible some setting is not right.
If you cannot see images when in recording mode try the play back mode and see if you can see any images in the lcd.
If you cannot see any images in either play back or record mode, and no menus, then the camera needs to be repaired.

If you can see images when you play back, and none when in record mode, then the ccd is suspected to be defective. If that is so, call Sony, give them your camera model and serial to see if they can repair the camera. The status will have to be determined by Sony repair.
