Question about Sony KP-53S65 53" Rear Projection Television
Hi, My TV is approx. 3 years old and just recently started to show double vision. It started when I moved it from up stairs bedroom to my living room and approx. a week later it started to double vision. Did the move cause the problem or how can i fix it? Thank you
Replace the convergence ICs. you will need two of them. They are located on a large aluminum heat sink with STK numbers. They cost about 10.00 each. They need to be soldered in. Its an easy repair if you can solder. Let me know if you need any additional info.

If one or more of the colors, red, green or blue have separated from each other and you can`t correct the problem using the convergence procedure as described in the users manual, that would indicate you have a convergence problem. Bad solder connections on the convergence output chips are common. If the set had a rough ride down the stairs while moving, that may have facilitated in exposing a preexisting condition. However, the most likely cause is the natural failure of one of the convergence output chips and or related components and not the move. The fix is to have a qualified technician address the problem. This is not a do it yourself job.
