look up the manual to your specific fax machine. There are different settings and the manual will tell you what to put it on in order to recieve faaxes....good luck!
press the setup button and scroll down to tools. in tools there should be an option that says run fax test. that would give you a printed page as to which part of the hardware of the printer or the fax line failed.
What your error code means is(look below)
Definition
There is too much noise on the line
for a valid connection between two fax machines to complete. The noise
problem might go away over time.
Solution
Retry
the fax reception at a different time when telephone line conditions
have improved. Call the telephone provider if line conditions fail to
improve.
The machine is set with the sleep mode as a default. The fax part can be changed to recieve a fax by pressing the fax mode button. Press it until it says Fax only, not F/T. F/T means Fax/Telephone. This mode would make it to where you have to pick up the reciever and press start when a fax comes in. The Fax only mode means it will pick up everytime a fax comes in automatically. i have a H P 3050 THREE IN ONE AND I CANNOT RECEIVE FAXES I HAVE COMCAST AND HAVE ALL MY SERVICES IN ONE, CABLE, PHONE AND INTERNET. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO PLUG THIS IN CORRECTLY
this sounds like may be there is a phone line problem on those two machines or that line is there dial tone??may be you need to have local phone company check this out
You cannot use a four wire cable to connect the fax to the wall. You must use a two wire cable, like the one that came with the machine. BTW, that means you can't you the EXT port to connect a two line phone or answering machine.
DR mode means that Distinctive Ring is set to on which will force your fax machine to manual receive. Turn DR off and you can set it to whatever mode you want.
Nice one. Thanks waynechurch!!
