HP Pavilion laptop freezes daily and i force manual shutdown

My Laptop crashes everyday and i have to force a manual shutdown. After it's daily 1 crash, it won't crash or freeze on me for the rest of the day.

It's an HP Pavilion dv1672ea series running MS Windows Vista Ultimate (upgraded from Windows XP Pro), 2GB RAM (upgraded from 1GB)
This is about the only upgrades i've done. No other installed hardware. I have performed a number of HDD formatting and installed a variety of Operating System.
Have I corrupted my HDD in the process. I sometimes also get the blue screen of Death when it crashes.

Thank you Guys

It usually crashes in the first 15-20mins of startup. I have disabled all unnecessary startup programs and only important ones start. It only happens in the first 20mins of startup depending on whether it's morning or evening .

And it usually doesn't matter what application i'm running.

I have a lot of applications installed on there for a laptop but it doesn't run slow or anything, it just crashes everyday before it runs smoothly.

To give you an idea of the applications I ran; Developing tools such as Visual Studio, SQL Reporting Services, SharePoint Designer, Virtual Machines of Windows 7 and Server 2K8 and other mini essential applications.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you very much

Yes I have cleansed my PC with CCleaner. I have also performed a defrag with O&O defrag: http://www.oo-software.com/smb/en/produc... but still no luck. I'm not sure if it's the multiple formatting i've been doing or the RAM I upgraded because I kinda noticed the severity after I upgraded to Vista Ultimate and increased my RAM to 2GB.

Thank you guys..I'll try the HDD check and see if it's corrupted and if it's not the issue then I'll revert to XP and feed back very soon and I'll rate :-)

Have you tried running a registry cleaner?

Is there any event that you can correlate to your crashes, including time of day.

It sound's like there could be a compatibility problem, maybe corrupt file's, or missing start up file's, have you tried doing a window's update, or doing a disc check on the hard drive, go to my computer right click the drive then go to propertie's, click on tool's then click check now for drive error's. if that do'es not work you may need to reformat back to the original xp os.

I think that even with 2 Gigs of Ram, Ultimate is a little much for your
lapto, and I recommend a reversion to XP Pro SP3.

Why does my laptop keep freezeing up and shutting down, I did a virus scan and its ok

The infected laptops encounter random shutdown problem until some maintenance activity is being performed on the system.
Two important things that you should do to fix a laptop which keeps shutting down are:
1- Scanning computer to eliminate malwares, spywares and the viruses from your laptop.
2- Repairing and cleaning Windows registry.
The registry errors, however, are the internal errors and can become a cause of system crashes and freezes.
These two tips are found to be very helpful to fix the laptop shutdown problem.

HP DV1000 won't run normal after a forced shutdown

For this kind of issue, please follow up the following steps to check:
1.confirm the battery and ac adapter connect the laptop normally.Maybe the bad connect lead to this problem. If there are no lights when you turn on laptop, one of possible reason is that your adapter is malfunction.

2.the second possible cause is laptop dc jack failure. If the dc jack is broken or loose, you are required to replace it or repair it.

3.Another possible reason is that there is something wrong with laptop motherboard. For this situation, it includs two kinds of possibility,a failure in an electronic circuit and BGA malfunction.

For more detailed reasons and solutions, please have a look at the following article:

If you verify your laptop adapter is dead and you plan to order a new one, I recommend one for you on the basis of your laptop model:

When im playing games such as callofduty on my computer vindictus or heroes of newerth on my Hp Pavilion dv7-3160us it seems to freeze in about 2minutes into the game the screen stays normal but nothing...

Your laptop is under power to run these games. The only solution to this is, either upgrading few of the component, Since this is a laptop, I doubt you can upgrade the video card, and you may need to find a higher performace laptop or a desktop to run the games. Remember game min. recommemation is only for a desktop, and with laptop even with some of the same spec, laptop hardware underperform with desktop hardware always!

My laptop keeps shutting off it is a hp pavillion dv6000

1- Scanning computer to eliminate malwares, spywares and the viruses from your laptop.
2- Repairing and cleaning Windows registry.
These two tips are found to be very helpful to fix the laptop shutdown problem. Almost all the computer users surf internet which could result in viruses attacking your system. Some of these infections are really pesky and cause the machines to shutdown randomly.
The registry errors, however, are the internal errors and can become a cause of system crashes and freezes. The registry keys shall be in good health to keep a system perfect.
When I noticed my laptop keeps shutting down everytime, I tested the Intel Software Partner, RegInOut to fix the random shutdown problem with my laptop.
