i have a mitsubish powered subwoofer that is making nothing but puffy air noises when it is turned on.  i am not sure how to get it working.  Here is the set up. I have receiver that has a subwoofer output jack on the back of it. the ouptut is an rca type. On the back of the powered subwoofer , there are low input  jacks, of which there are two, and there are high input jacks. According to the manual, all i need to do is connect a rca cord from the output on the back of the receiver to the  left low imput on the woofer. This does not seem to be working.  Any suggestion?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

Actually, I had the same problem with my JBL PB10. It was the cable. I had to buy a one direction shielded rca cable. If you put it in backwards it will not work. The cable was around 75.00. But it was well worth it. The first cable I tried was a cheap sony brand sub rca cable. I ended up buying the AR(Acoustic Research) 15ft. directional subwoofer RCA cable from Best Buy. Make sure you have your receiver set to the proper setting too. If you have it hooked to main, set it to main. If you have it hooked to the L.F.E.(RCA cable) set it on L.F.E.. Some have the option to set to both. If it is a non powered sub a RCA cable will not work. You will have to run your main speaker cables to the sub first, then from the sub to the speakers. It then "piggybacks" the Low Frequency signals from the receiver.

Well, as I know, your Cerwin Vega subwoofer is designed for use with stereo systems. Therefore, it has only 2 channels for input, and 2 channels for output as well. However, you can try this out; the first thing I suggest is that you hook up your main front channels through the subwoofer. All you have to do is to connect the subwoofer input to the front channel output on the amp, then hook up your front speakers to the satellite output on the subwoofer. As long as you make sure that system is working on 8 ohms, I believe this can activate the subwoofer.

my solution to the problem you have mentioned in your comment could be that you should grab a Y connector to split the single LFE output on your amp to a pair. Then hook it up both to the left and the right LFE inputs on the sub. this will double the bass you get from the sub.

How can I hook up my cerwin Vega ht 10d subwoofer to my computer surround system

You'll need some adapter cables. I would probably try a Y cable in each front speaker line, then connect the pair from the left channel to the "L" binding posts on the back of the Sub. Same for the right.
Not sure of the configuration of your existing surround system. Essentially, you want to "Y" the left and right channels wherever you can get a hold of them and connect each to the back of the sub.

  • I don't see that Amp blowing this speaker and it averages about $75. Just turn the box on it's side and remove the screws holding the speaker in place. Drop the speaker. Remove connectors and revers to finis the job.

Cerwin-Vega 12'', no power

It should have a small fuse on the board between the transformer and the board. Check that first. If it is good see if the transformer is putting out any voltage. Two easy fixes that can be done in house...

You have several ranges of options.

1) Contact Cerwin-Vega customer service: http://www.cerwin-vega.com/

2) Do a google search on "cerwin vega speaker replacement". You will find companies both that offer repair or repair kits (e.g., www.simplyspeakers.com) or sell replacements. Contact them - they have the expertise to tell you which of their products are most suitable for your model.

Cerwin Vega ve-28s subwoofer and new Cervin Vega 2-way satellites

I bought my VE-28s and it did exactly that crackled, cerwin replaced part in amp but few months later problem persisted. they then replaced entire amp assembly and its been fine. i really push it to and its been fine. to test it, unplug the connection from amp/ reciever and see if it persists. if so its the sub, if not its the amp/ reciever. dont dump it, these subs really crank and can put out some deep loud bass.
