You said the hand wheel barely moves. Is that all the time? If the hand wheel is hard to turn the motor is getting overloaded and is protecting itself by stopping and giving you the error message. You need to determine why the hand wheel is tight. There could be thread caught or something might need lube. These are non oiling needed machines however sometimes a linkage might need fresh lube.

I ended up threading my machine with a piece of non waxed dental floss and basically flossed the thread tracks. Machine works fine now

SOURCE: Timing is off on my Pfaff 2140/2170 machine.

Basically on any sewing machine to time it you will need to separate the two gears that drive the hook. Usually loosen the set screws that attach the gear to the shaft and separate them.
Time the hook first. On center needle position, set the hook so that the point is behind the needle when the needle bar has risen about 2.5mm.
2) Set the needle bar height. Choose the needle position which is the last for the hook to pass.
(Left on most machines, right on older Vikings) At this point, place the point of the hook behind
the needle and set the needle bar height so that top of the eye is just barely below the tip of the
hook.
3) Check feed timing. Set the stitch length to the longest stitch. The needle should enter the
fabric just as the teeth drop below the surface of the plate.

SOURCE: while sewing the bobbin case moves, wheel locks up, needle locks

Im not sure if this will help but thought I would pass it along. My Pfaff 6122 tells me to check bobbin for thread unrolling clockwise before you place it back in the machine. I had mine turned to un roll counter clockwise, this is wrong, the bobbin will fall out when you pull on the thread while you are holding it in your hand. You may just keep putting it in backwards. Hope this works for you. J.R.

SOURCE: needle not picking up bottom thread

Remove the needle plate and the bobbin case.

Ensure that the needle is inserted all the way up into the needle clamp.

Set the machine for straight stitch, center needle position.

Slowly turn the handwheel in the normal sewing direction and observe the following hook timing setting:

When the needle reaches it's lowest point and travels up 3.5mm, the point of the hook should be directly behind the needle, or at least within 1 or 2mm.

Another view is as the hook passes the needle, it should pass the needle slightly above the eye of the needle.

If the timing looks good, use some alcohol on a bit of cloth to clean the hook, careful around the tip of the hook as it is very sharp.

If the hook timing is off, you will need to take it to a knowledgeable service person as there are several possible solutions and several other related adjustments which will need to be made.

SOURCE: Sewing machine is jamming

The UPPER thread is not threaded through the machine correctly.

Testimonial: "That was part of the solution. I also adjusted the bobbin tension, together that solved the problem. thanks for your advice! "

Janome Memory Craft 11000 Sewing Machine. I put it in the closet for 3 years! I got it out yesterday with a message saying the feed dog motor.

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved from Cars and Trucks category.

Of course. It is the absolute worst thing to do to a sewing machine, leave a machine in a closet for 3 years. It oil will have congealed and gone rancid and any lint that was in there will have set hard. It will need a good clean, lubrication, service and timing done. Plus it is electronic, so I hope your close in nice and dry and warm with no moisture.

Even if you don't use them, then need cleaning and oiling every year.

Pfaff 2170 main motor blocked;Tried again, same message. It works fine for five or 10 minutes, then stops and message comes up. after overnight rest, same thing happens. tension, cleaning is fine.

Take it back where it was serviced and tell them they did not fix the problem. They should either repair it or give you your money back. If the motor is having issues, there could be something seriously wrong.

Guess you should change repair service and ask them some warranty for repair?

Tension problems

you need to find a different sewing machine repair shop

have you tried a new needle
have you tried changing thread--top & bobbin
clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for loose threads & lint
make sure every thread guide is used
make sure thread is not hanging up some where on the machine

when you have to take the machine in 3 time & it's no better, then their not fixing the machine, I highly recommend a different sewing shop to check out the machine if my suggestions don't help. no since in throwing money away, when their not going to fix the machine like their suppose to.

My Pfaff 2140 giving message main motor blocked.

I have gotten the main motor blocked message several times. When I get this, I always remove thread, both top and bottom. I change the needle too. 75% of the time my problem goes away. If the problem is not solved, I unscrew the casing in the front of the bobbin, and look for anything that might be obstructing the bobbin. While I've had lots of "blocked motor" messages, I've never had to get a tech to ook at it. Sometimes, if you leave it overnight too, the sewing machine fairy will change something and the problem will solve itself in the morning. Re-thread, re-bobbin, re-needle. to start.
