Question about Samsung Televison & Video

HP-R4252 Samsung 42" Plasma cooling fan won't work. Replaced the fan, and new one won't work either. Service center said $250 to repair fan. What else could it be, and can the tv be run without fan if an outside box fan was used instead?

Hi, does your replacement fan is the same exact part number as the original?. If your replacement fan is like the ones used un pcs with the third yellow wire, then this wont work.

There is no color wheel or lamp in a plasma TV.

The problem is most likely the lower buffer " E ". It controls the right side of the screen. Worse case, it could be the Logic Board. A Service Manual for you TV will have the part number for replacement. The manual will also give you procedures on how to replace the part yourself. The service Manual for your TV can be found over the internet for less than $20. This is the best do it yourself manual you need for repairs on your TV. :)

I have a 46 inch Samsung plasma HP R4252 picture went black

Probably the power supply that drives the video has gone bad. Samsung recommends the TV go to a service center. If you have some skill and are willing to try, open up the back of the TV, remove the shielding and look at the boards to identify any obvious damage. Leaking or bulging capacitors, soot, scorch marks are the obvious. (Other parts can have bad solder or tiny cracks that are hard to spot.)

http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsearch/result/index/q/HP-R4252 has reclaimed parts for this TV. These are parts from TVs that were damaged in shipping and were only run during quality control tests. They list several power supplies for the model so check what part number is actually installed (there is usually a label on the board).

You may have to change the DMD (Digital Micromirror Device). Also you may have to change the color wheel and lamp; the DMD will cost you around $200-$300. The color wheel and lamp will together cost you another $300.
This type of tv repair may be very expensive especially if you have to pay a technician to perform the repair for you.
It's at that point that you may decide to invest in a new unit.

THe most common cause of this is overheating. These sets have fans that should keep them cool enough. Check to be sure that the fans are working and that the vent holes are not blocked. These sets will shutdown when excessive heat is detected. If that is not the issue here, let us know and we'll start looking elsewhere.
