The PMD670 digital recorder I have powers on ok, but won't power off. Any suggestions? A.B. 9-12-13

There is a slide switch on the front of the unit labeled "key lock" that if enabled disables input from all controls, including power off. Disabling the switch should allow you to power off

SOURCE: How can I digitize cassette tapes using the Marantz PMD670?

Take a set of RCA Jack cords (4 jacks) and on the tape recorders "out" jacks attach one pair and on the PMD 670's "In" Jacks attach the other pair. Set the tape a few seconds before where you want to record , set your levels to where you want them, start the recorder then start recording with the PMD.

You may need to test record a few seconds to make sure the recording is at the level you want it to be. Plug in a set of headphones to the PMD and listen in from time to time to make sure it's recording OK.

There you go.

Dan

How to format a new CF Card without getting a display message that says "must format on PC"?

I have this same problem. I have 3 cards. 1 of them my Marantz PMD671 just doesn't like, and produces the error message "you need format on PC". I can format it on PC, and use it normally, but the PMD671 will not have it. The card is a cheapo Dane-elec.
I give up at this point.

Cannot transfer files to pc from my 670, or from the card reader

Your files are probably corrupt. I encounter this problem quite often. You could try to repair with Easy Recovery Professional. I manage to repair my files most of the time
