My palm treo 700w activesync 4.5 continually syncs
My palm treo 700w activesync 4.5 continually syncronizes -- how do I get it to stop and only sync when there are changes and I am connected versus whenever connected continually syncing?
Re: My palm treo 700w activesync 4.5 continually syncs
The computer doesn't know if you have made changes or not... until it talks to the device... so, instead, how about shutting down ActiveSync or changing the connection settings so that it can only sync when you want it to.

you may have to delete activesync, reinstall, then connect your phone. be sure and save the old activesync folder, contacts, pics, etc. hope this gets you going.
If you want to hotsync your phone you need to download the Microsoft Active Sync software from this site:
ActiveSync Software
for Windows XP
Download
Updater 1.22 (Windows Installer) for Treo 700w/wx for Verizon
Update your phone
Update Windows Mobile Device Center for Vista
Learn more
the only way to unlock it is to do a hard reset, but this will delete all the info out of the device, but if you have synced the phone you can sync it back after the reset
Honestly... your best bet would be to perform a hard reset... then sync with the computer again... To performa hard reset, hold the power button down and press the reset button under the battery door,... The phone will ask you if you want to 'Erase All Data?'... press UP on the navigation key or press the volume up key...
When it is done waking up and you have calibrated the screen and such, you can use activesync again to restore your old data.
Try uninstalling the Microsoft Activesync. The Palm website offers the newly, innovated Activesync software available for your device. I would recommend reinstalling Microsoft Activesync from this support site.
Try going to File: Delete mobile device and trying to sync. If you have something like an addon that syncs (like quick gps, etc) try unchecking it when you are re-setting up the sync settings for your treo (after you 'delete' moble device from activesync)
If an addon was causing the problem, uninstall it on your pc, then reinstall it, then it should work.
Please try the following:
1. Pop the Software Installation disk that came with your treo into your pc and allow it to autoplay.
2. After the disk begins playing, you will be prompted to choose your language-do so.
3. After a second a new dialog box will appear-Select the option "Change your syncronization method"
4. Select "Use Microsoft Outlook to manage Calendar, contacts, tasks and more.
5. Perform a hotsync
6. Open your versamail and hit the sync button
You won't be able to do that. Lotus Organizer as well as Lotus Notes and OutHook are PIM some plus e-mail, just like Palm Desktop is a PIM. So you can have the Treo sync with Lotus Organizer AND have the Axim sync with it also it is because there are conduits buit for them. There is a middleware that allows both to talk to one. Now if you can find a piece of software out there that will sync a PocketPC with Palm Desktop, I'm sure a lot of Palm converts would love to know that.
You may have tried Exchange ActiveSync in VersaMail
When you setup an Exchange ActiveSync account in VersaMail, you are asking your Treo to synchronize email and your calendar with an Exchance 2003 server. In order to prevent duplicates, VersaMail disables Calendar synchronization via HotSync while the account exists on your Treo.
So if you are an Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) user, you have a choice; you either sync wirelessly or you can delete the EAS account in VersaMail and can then sync your Calendar via HotSync. You cannot do both unfortunately.
You may be used to PocketPC ActiveSync.
HotSync is an asynchronous synch model - you synch upon demand but not continuously. Pocket PC devices synch all the time while in the cradle. There are advantages to both models.
If you want to synch a Palm OS device, you need to press the button. There are some extra appliactions available on www.palmgear.com that will force your device to synch upon a schdule.
