Hi,
Replace the water inlet valve to the unit. The valve is not closing completely after the water is called for. By replacing the valve should solve this issue.

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: Lg side by side Ice maker not filling all of the tray/dripping

You may have a restriction in the icemaker.  Remove the icemaker and make sure that there is no ice buildup other than in the cube slots.  Also make sure that the fill tube is clear of any ice obstruction.

SOURCE: LG ICE MAKER

Be sure that the fill tube is getting into the ice maker and that the ice maker is not blocked with ice.  If everything seems ok, you may have a leaking water valve which causes it to constantly drip water into the ice maker causing the block of ice.

SOURCE: water dispenser on front of refrigerator door does not dispense water. Ice Cube maker continues to make ice cubes. Defrosting doesn't fix problem.

Water dispensing solenoid is bad. You need to replace the solenoid valve. This typically is independent of the ice maker.

Before the ice cubes can drop into the bucket, they freeze into a giant block of ice. How do I prevent this.

Either the heater that releases the cubes is not working, or water valve is staying open too long. Replace ice maker.

My ice maker in my side by side refrig/freezer leaks water so that a solid block of ice is formed in the tray maker. This prevents dispensing of cubes. What can I do?.

Hello,

The cause of that is the water inlet valve is not fully closing but instaed its staying open a little and seeping water through it all the time which is dripping into the storage bin for the icemaker and freezing all the ice into one huge block. To repair that the water inlet valve on the back of the ref. where the house water supply line attaches to would need to be replaced.

What I have seen in a thing like this is a simple water valve drip. Some of them drip like a faucet. This causes the cubes to stick together and all kinds of grief. I have your service manual.

My ice maker is letting too much water go into the ice tray so it freezes in a solid piece. Cubes do fall down but there is so much water it freezes into a solid block

The icemaker produces small cubes if the water fed into it is not enough and lumped together if too much water is supplied. In order to obtain the desired size of ice cubes, the amount of water supplied to the ice maker needs to be adjusted. Adjust the valve supplying water to the icemaker or the unit in general in such a way that right amount of water fills the ice tray.

Ice maker makes ice cubes, but the doesn't dispense ice cubes.

If you could observe exactly where the water is dripping from it would help but...If it overfills and drips, look for an adjustment behind the plastic endcover with a +/- on it. - is less water.
If it continuously drips, replace the water inlet valve on the back where the house water supply comes in.
The water inlet valve on the back of the unit where the water supply comes in can have a slow leak and will cause ice to buildup and block the fill tube. Disconnect the ice maker line from the valve and watch to see if it has a slow drip. It doesn’t take much to eventually block the fill tube.
