TV Sound The sound went out on my TV. Is this something I can repair myself bybuying a part? If not, how much, on average, would this kind of repair cost?

I have a philips magnavox and had two problems that I recently fixed using kits from www.TvRepairKits.com. I can't say enough about their kits and help. Without them I would have never been able to fix my TV set myself.

The first problem I had was the TV was looking 3D. After doing some homework I found out that this is a convergence problem. I bought a kit, followed the instructions, and to my amazement fixed it myself.

After building my confidence with the 1st repair I decided to get their CRT fluid kit. This kit fixes the dull video,red video, or bright/halo looking video. If you have a magmavox set that is more than 5 years old your tv has this problem already. It happens on every set. As before I bought the kit, followed the instructions, and now my video looks factory new. Once again I wanted to say thanks to the team at Tv Repair Kits for putting together kits that the average joe can use.

the tv has one part of the power supply working this is needed to have the microcontroller ready to work. But the tv needs more than that for work im talking 'bout the high voltage power supply who is now damaged. the parts required depends on the diagnosis in the bench but at least two are needed. the cost of this repair of course depends in how many parts are going to be replaced, but i concider this repair kind of average in this technology.

it sounds like the soundboard went out on the tv..its probably worth fixing but you have to know what you are doing if you do it on your own.it could be something more minor too but not sure

Good morning I have sound problem it started with the cable hook up there box to the television, now sound is very low. Turn up the TV control to max, nothing but low sound. Of course cable people have no idea of a problem, I disconnected the cable but the same problem, love the set work for two years, note: thing happen when all analog change to digital. help!

My sound went out 3 days ago and Purchased the TV in July 2006. For a while my screen look like it was going bad and now the sound is gone. Since I purchased the Warranty (listen to this crap). The are sending me a box though U.S. Mail to my home. I then pack the box and take it back to the Post Office and send my TV to New York for Repair. Then the repair will take place and they will ship my TV back from New York to Los Angeles. Unless it is beyond Repair. Then they will take another 30 days to process the check and mail it from New York to Los Angeles,



At this time I can only laugh at myself for bying a non-name brand TV to save money.

Depending on when you bought this TV, this could be the lamp. Does the red light below the green light come on? (That's the lamp light). This light typically comes on around the 3rd year of use for an average individual. I've recently enountered the same problem and will try to replace the lamp myself. Apparently its very simple.

It's very likely junk and would cost far more to repair with labour than to buy a new one. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

that sounds like the Hi voltage transformer went bad.. If your a tech simply disconnect the horizontal output transistor and see if thats shorted. If it is then it is for sure the HV transformer. If its not shorted look in the main power supply. Its cost is around 40 bucks or so and the transistor is about 15 to 20 bucks. This entire repair should cost ya around 150 to 175. So if you decide this tv is the one you like then have it fixed. Good Luck
