The deck should reset if the power cord is unpluged. On power up the deck should return to normal. If it does not then the condition that caused it could still be present or is now set up wrong. It is quite possible that the mode switch is in the wrong position and would need to be set up correctly. Unless you have done this before, you will probably need the service manual, as most VCR's are not set up in the eject mode!
DO NOT , UNPLUG THE POWER CHORD, DO ONE THING SWITCH ON THE VTR AND THEN HAVE AN ALL PIN .. THEN RESET THE MACHINE ... WITH THAT PIN .. AND THEN PRESS EJECT ... YOUR TAPE WILL COME OUT ..
you need to clean the vcr with a cleaner that you can buy at a store. If that doesnt work then you need to take the 4 or 5 skrews out that hold the top on and look at the motor and gears move while you put a tape in and you should spot the problem pretty quick. It'll be with the round metal wheel that turns the tape.
take the case off and see if the tape is stuck around anything. if not, remove the tape deck very carefully (make sure it is unplugged first). you should be able to remove the tape fairly easy. the tape may be wrapped around something inside of the deck there, or the loading gears could be out of synch. and if it happens again you might consider getting a new vcr because to replace a new loading deck is cost prohibitive because vcr's are so cheap now.
First power off the unit, then remove the DV's tape housing , power up the unit, and allowed the mechanism to go back to the unload mode, make sure that the tape posts are at unload mode. then unplug the vcr back again, put back the tape's housing in the load position (tape in) power the vcr back on and push eject button to reset tape mechanism.
Remove the cover again and move the tape carriage all the way towards the front (the carriage is not fully in the locked position). Once that is done you should be able to load a cassette again.
The tape might be wrapped around the head or the capstan. The mechanism is delicate so you risk more damage by trying yourself - check with some of the repair shops on the Fixya home page for prices to remove the tape.
