Half black? top/bottom or left right?

The set is rather old--a old trick to use is to connect a fan to the rear of set with the back off--it may extend the life of the set and give you some more use out of it.

I have seen a lot of these sets and never one with the problem you describe. If only a picture top or bottom is missing it may be vertical or if you are seeing what looks like a full picture with top or bottom black it is a Blanking problem--may not be easy to find...........

Try adjusting your focus&screen control Block-R/G/B 3 on top are focus and 3 on bottom are screen drives to the Tubes R/G/B you will have to remove front Panel on TV thats where the control Block is. You need to also resolder (FBT) flyback Transfomer Pinns.
