After two years of the 2610 printer running flawlessly, the printer now prints with very light black print on the paper. I have tried two brand new cartridges with no success. Is there some thing I need to clean to get this thing working right again? Has anyone experienced this problem?
I only use refill HP inks. When the cartridge prints gray instead of sharp black it means the ink well is clogged. Yes, that can happen on a new cartridge. Sometimes it happens when they put too much ink in the cartridge, or even heat can make it not work. Also streaking black lines is the problem of the ink not coming out properly. Easiest thing to do is go to a refill station like Cartridge World and have them test it or clean it out. You can also make sure the printer, not the cartridge is clean. Ink builds up an pools. Get some Q-Tips and clean up all that spilled ink. Sometimes in the software it says you can clean the print head, do that too.
In printers there are types of mode in printing these are draft, normal, best, and sometimes theres also an enhance mode. check your printer properties before you start another print, check whether it is set to the said mode. i suggest that you set it in normal mode. this is the usual mode used in printing. then lets see.

I have exactly the same problem, as I have moved from Uk to Australia. I was told by Hp support I needed to take out an extended warranty for them to help!!
If you have a solution please let me know.
Thanks
