Question about HP Scanjet 5470c Flatbed Scanner
Purchased an exact replacement for the power cable (less than $20 on Ebay) - scanner powers on!

I've done it, using an adjustable power supply all i needed was 12VDC -
2Amp, the power connector going to the scanner is a 4 pin mini-DIN
male, so i've ripped of the cable from the original bad power module,
cable has inside 2 wires one black one white and a shielding. Black and
schielding are connected together and are going to the minus, the white
one is going to +12V
guess what? .... my scanner is working again

I would replace the power module (adaptor). Same issue happened to my 5400c in early November, too!

I was using my HP scanjet 5470c and scanned several documents. The power just went out and I could not turn it on again. I'd like to know what the problem is and get it fixed. I love using this scanner.

Same problem - Scanner was on, suddenly turned itself off - and now will not turn back on. Almost like something burned out (fuse?, transformer?)
same thing...
Same problem.
I was going to try a new power adapter, as anyone tried that yet, or contacted HP?
I am a trained electrican and I just checked the power supply and mine is bad. I just got online to look for one if any knows were to get a replacement please notify me.
My 5470C scanner stopped turning on after many turn-ons spuriously - when my Mac Mini - on the same powerstrip -had to be turned off/on when it crashed when and could not be reset. After a while the 5470C just would not turn on. I just tried it tonight and - yes- it does NOT turn on.
The HP "Wall Wart"does NOT give any output voltage when plugged in & not connected to the scanner.
My HP 5470c worked fine until my computer crashed, and sat idle for two months while I built a new system. Now - it won't power on. No lights, no response to buttons; everything correctly cabled, s/w installed on new machine. Can't find a fuse on the unit that could be blown, and the power outlet is good.
The HP troubleshooting is not helpful because the system does not recognize the scanner, so I can't change any settings.
I suspect the power transformer, but it seems strange that it died while not in use. Frustrating, as it is a good scanner when it works...
