I would like to know where can i find a new power supply

  • skyview Dec 12, 2007

Cannot get tv to turn on. When I press the on button on remote or the power button the the tv, it clicks, as if turning on, then clicks again and the memory stick flashes, then I hear another faint click. No screen comes on. It is as if it turns itself off after I turn it on. The stanby light will continue to blink 5 times. What is the problem. The tv is only 2 years old. The power button and remote have always been sensitive but have worked after a try or two. What has caused it to stop completely? Help...I have little extra money for repairs and I know less that little about these things.

5 times blinks is due to flyback transformer faulty or the short circuit in C board section.

Hi,

The Standby/Power light of the TV blinks when there is any internal malfunction in the TV. The self-diagnostic function of the TV will cause the STANDBY light to blink or flash when the television detects an issue. The number of times the STANDBY light flashes corresponds to a specific issue.

Few examples are given below; some of the issues may be resolved without the need for service.
1 blink / 2 blinks / 5 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a power-related problem with your set.
3 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a power-related problem with your set. The set will need to be serviced to allow a technician to determine the specific issue that needs to be repaired. If the power light flashes three times in sequence in a Lamp TV, the lamp cover is not securely attached. Reattach the lamp cover to resolve this issue.
4 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a back light or lamp power problem.
6 blinks: - This indicates that there is some kind of audio problem with your set.
7 blinks: - This indicates that there is a temperature problem with your set. Please check to make sure that the air vents on the sides and back of the set are not blocked or clogged and there is adequate ventilation around the television. We recommend that you check and clean the vents periodically to make sure the set receives adequate air flow. If the problem continues, the set will need to be serviced.
8 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a video-related problem with your set. If the flash sequence is not listed above or the light continues to flash, follow the steps below to perform a power reset:
Try the following steps to check if the issue can be resolved.
Turn off the television.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.

If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.

If the issue continues to occur, service may be required.

Thanks for using Fixya.

The red light on the front of the TV blinks all the time. No sound or picture. It is a Sony Model KV-21s65

The TV will cause the STANDBY light to blink or flash when the TV detects an issue.
The number of times the STANDBY light flashes corresponds to a specific issue.

If the TV is plugged into a power strip or a surge protector, please remove it from the power strip or the surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet.
If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the TV.

Also try connecting the TV to different AC wall outlet and check if that helps.

If the issue persists, the TV needs to be Serviced.

The set will need to be serviced to allow a technician to determine the specific issue that needs to be repaired.

Please contact the local Authorized Service Center to get the TV serviced.

  1. Turn off the television. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
  2. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
  3. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. No picture and no sound

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

Sony LCD television will not power on.

I get 5 blinking red lights for about a minute or so before it powers back down. The Sony TV has a specific light that i presume is supposed to light up when the bulb is out. I'm unsure if this is what it is.
no picture, no sound. tries to boot with green light blinking a few times. then goes to red blinking light, six in all, then waits a few moments, then another 6 blinking red light.
Bulb was already replaced several months ago but we do have the TV on for long periods of time.
